I have been having some starting problems with my 2000 M2. After riding the bike for 20,000 miles the past 7 years it decided it no longer will run with the enrichner when cold. Even with the enrichner out about 1/4" it dies as soon as I give it some throttle to take off. Push the enrichner all the way in and it will pull away OK.

The last time I rode it, one other new thing happened....After shutting down and sitting a few minutes, I see gas dripping from the stock breadbasket cover. So, today I took off the cover, ran the bike at about 2000 RPM steady, and notice that gas droplets are drooling from the accelerator pump and into the carb throat.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks,
Mark

I did. You need a new accelerator pump gasket, it's cheap. I don't have the part number handy, but it's a 3-bolt diaphragm (not a gasket, sorry - it's late). My S1W was pissing gas up my leg one day, I had a rip on the inside of the diaphragm. It was peeing out the top of the pump, where the rod linkage goes in. Pulled it apart, found the rip, replaced the diaphragm, no other issues (and much better fuel economy, now that the only gas going into the carb was for air/fuel mix and not for wetting down the rider, LOL).

Simple fix. Get a bowl gasket too, just to be safe. I think you'll be out a whopping $5 or $6 for both : )

Re-reading, you may also want to get a float needle and check your float level, you may not be shutting off fuel into the carb if the needle is worn or sticking open, thus the overflow. The needle is pricey - about $20 - but also an easy fix.
