Anyone looking for "new" tube frames? By new I mean unsold, never titled, still at dealership. C & C Custom Cycle in Iowa has 5 new tubes including a red stripe and a special 2K X1 chrome edition. |

Thats what they call it. I could see a chrome tailpiece and PM's. It is at cc-cycle.com. Under pre-owned. |

I just checked their website. What's the deal with all the seven to ten year old bikes? At first glance it looks like their webpage hasn't been updated since 2000. I know that it's "new" and all but I couldn't see paying $10,000 when a slightly used one can be picked up for less than half that and usually with some go goodies. That being said I would like to have one to stash away somewhere. |

Haven't there been stories posted about "new unsold bikes" having had their paperwork played with that triggered the factory warranty to begin the countdown, then someone comes along and buys the "new" bike only to find out the zero mile bike has no new bike warranty? |

Sounds like a raw deal to me. I would rather get one with 22,000 miles on it than one that was just sitting there. They have some HUGE testicles asking for normal list price! Come on! |

yes that has happened....dr steve bought a hold over bike only to find out the paperwork was "shuffled" and someone at the dealership actually had title transfered but not registered at dmv so they would get record of the sale with the motor company...then his warranty ran out early...he was extremely pissed to say the least!!! |

What would make someone ask List Price for a 7yr old "new" bike? At this point you would think that they would offer it at or near dealer cost just to get it out the door. I wonder if there is a tax benefit or some such involved there. Well, it does say "reasonable offers accepted", maybe they would sell them at a decent price if offered. |

Actually, I bought my 2K X1 " new " about 3 months ago. Just sitting at the dealer, inside main showroom, never outside. I have the PM's so I believe the list for it was 11,500. I paid 7200 w/ the full 1 yr warranty that originally came with it. Dealer replaced shock, front exhaust hangar and the rocker gaskets. I will be getting new isolators over winter. All of which they have covered. So fas so good. I had my eye on a used 2K w/ a few goodies and 6K miles. Guy wouldn't go below 5500.00. If you scour the web you will find there are quite a few unsold tubers. They have one left at my dealer, its a 2002 X1W that they want 7300.00 for w/ the warranty. Since I bought new from the dealer I got tax credit and only had to pay tax on the diff ( about 1400$ ). |

The X1's cost the dealer $7200 back then so they got thier money back. I think they should be discounted more than dealer cost, 6 years is a long time to be just sitting there. |

I'd buy a new 1997 s3t with bags or a new 1998 s1w all white. I'd buy those over any new bike on the market today. Buells are different than most other bikes. And IMO tubers just look the best. |

I don't really blame the dealer for "asking" full price. You just never know when that one guy will pay it. But they also ask for offers. For a true Buell fan who wants a new tuber then it comes down to supply and demand. I think 6-7k for that 97s3 would be a deal. Good thing it isn't the color combo I like. Or I'd been in trouble. |

Grad - you are correct. That was their cost. Look at it like this. A bike that was 12K in 2000 would be what in todays dollars - maybe 15K out the door? You aren't going to get much of a bike for 7200.00 these days. Not new w/ a warranty. I figure even if I put 5K into it, that puts me at 12 which is what I would have paid then. Plus I will have a greatly improved bike with all the current updates. I also don't have any of the concerns a buyer of a used bike w/ have. You never know what prior owner did or didn't do. |

But Grad has seven years of ear to ear grins, can you put a price on that? |

I would ABSOLUTELY buy one of these bikes...but at a slightly more reasonable price. I mean, really, if the bikes have been sitting for this long and the dealership owner has had to walk through his shop and stare at these bikes that have been sitting on the floor forever, it seems that he'd almost take any deal thrown his way just to be able to unload them. I'd go down there and buy one today if I could get the red X1 for $7500, and I'd smile the whole time that I was writing the check. These bikes are rare and once they are bought up, the tubers are gone. There will come a day when you can't buy any new tubers anywhere and it will truly be the end of an era. It makes me want to walk out to the shed and hug it out with my Cyclone. I'm not crying, I just have something in my eye...really. |

I wasn't trying to be smart in the last post, after I read it it kinda sounded that way. It's hard to compare apples to apples over these "new" bikes and the same ones bought in 2000. I bought my '99 in Feb of 2000 for $10.9 out the door. If someone just got one for $7200 it would be a difference of $3700 or $528.57 per year. I'm not even going to get into personal add ons and maintenance which would have to be taken into account for a true comparison. Let's up it to $600 a year for estimation purposes. That's just $50 a month for some seat of your pants thrill rides. I'd sign up for that! |

Crash - How about a new 2002 X1W for 7200.00? |
