There may be 2 #35s...a "49 state" and a "Cali". Anyone care to chime in? Or did the 49 / Cali get shared among the same 1399 bikes? |

There are two plausible explanations. One is pretty. One is not. |

Court, Rest easy! I'm almost absolutely, positively, certain that FMJ's bike is 95 S2 CA bike #35. Milar & Ratbuell, Yes, Ratbuell is correct, there were 2 #35 1995 S2's. One was 49 state bike, while the other was a CA bike. The 49 state bike will have '11' in the appropriate place in the VIN, while a CA bike will have '56' in the appropriate place in the VIN, so the full VIN will NOT be the same for the 2 bikes - the check digit will most likely be different betwixt the 2 bikes as well. 1313 |

>The 49 state bike will have '11' in the >appropriate place in the VIN, while a CA >bike will have '56' in the appropriate >place in the VIN, I don't mind sharing the VIN on my bike if it will help to resolve the issue. It's: 1B9RT11H0S3133035 M |

I wrote BMC a letter in regards to any info updates etc on my 96 S2T and have gotten No reply yet...1 month... I also asked about blank signature series plates! Time will tell... My Vin is 4MZFT11H5T3000003 Now, is there a 1995 with a 003 build too? Which letter/digit actually specifys year? I no the "F" stands for the touring S2T.. Or does F just plaily stands for FABULOUS? My vin ends in 56h0s3000036 so looks like Court's assertion holds true in regards to it being a CA vin,too bad the wrong number was in the list. |

Firemanjim - so your bike is a 1995 S2 Signature Series #36? I can make that correction on the spreadsheet. |

My vin ends in 11h253133036, but the bike has FMJ's old motor in it--does that mean I have to turn in my signature plate? Or move to California? I'm so confused... rt |

My Ca S2's VIN is 4MZRT56H9T3000005 - and this is for #34 formerly owned by Jim_SB. |

Kristi,I would have to dig out my signature plate as the vin does not coincide with the bike # as you can see from Saro's vin # and plate #. |

Bartimus might have to step back in here and decide how he wants the data displayed. I'm only the admin help here! Oh, Bartimus, where are you? |

LOL, I didn't know about the 49 state, and California models sharing the same numbers. I knew that 1995 and 1996 models had some of the same numbers, because they were two separate production runs, they just didn't make as many in '96. As for displaying the data, we might make two lists, one for 1995, and one for 1996. Apparently I didn't get the data right for FMJ's bike when I listed it as #35 instead of #36. (musta been a few beers too many that night) Sorry for the confusion,LOL Kristi, isn't this fun? |

I thought the numbers were continuous from '95 to '96, and the split was 49 / Cali? I'll have to dig out my letter, for some reason I think that's got the wording that made me think it was all one number sequence. |

OK - let's try this and see if this addresses all the possibilities we currently know about. Let me know if something is incorrect on the spreadsheet. Please note that there are 2 pages on the spreadsheet. Same data, different sort priorities. |

So is there some magical formula to figure out exactly or approximately what number in the build sequence an S2 is if one has a VIN and a build date? I'm wondering if the last three digits of the VIN number are what I should be seeking for Signature Series stuff. Not big deal, just curious. Someone might have already told me this in the past, but I might have forgotten whatever it was that they might have said. Next time I'll just paint-marker it on the underside of the tank cover. |

I have 244, originally Yellow Jacket. It's changed colors a few times since. Now Tango Orange with significant body modifications. I'm the original owner and have all the "Signature Series" swag. This is interesting seeing where all these have been. I'm glad someone has the time and energy to keep up with it all. |

Kmbuell - see on your profile you're in NC - come on over to Carolina Corner Carvers and introduce yourself if you're interested in meeting other NC Buellers. Got your data entered onto the spreadsheet. |

Clue a noob in, I know they are Signature series. But, were they hand assembled by Erik and crew? That would be something. |
