does anyone know if there is anything inside of a force pipe? any standard baffles or something in there? |

I think it's straight through. Perforated tube with glass mat wrapped around. LOUD. |

Absolutely nothing inside, you can purchase a baffle that is about 8” long with perf. holes and a 1-3/4” hole in the end to force some of the exhaust through the perf. Holes. It does not seem to make much of a sound difference. |

There's not even a perforated tube through the middle? My daytona boss has that at least. |

There is nothing at all inside ... and the street baffle (I don't even think it's 8 inches long) is pretty much worthless ... ran with it off and on .. noticed no difference ... It is a completely open header/pipe .. I don't see how this exhaust is supposed to make power .. when compared to the Buell race exhaust system it falls short .. it may seem like it makes more power up top - but it really doesn't .. it only feels that way because the straight pipe robs the bike of power down low .. overall numbers will be higher across the board and better down low and mid with the race exhaust (Which is why the Force is no longer with me and I am running a Buell race exhaust system on both of my bikes |

LimitedX1, i don't know exact;y why you asked but if you are looking to quiet your exhaust note somewhat with a performance gain you just might consider the Car Chemistry inserts from "wwwCarChemisrty.com" I have installed a straight through 2 1/2 inch fiberglass packed muffler from Summit racing, $30.00, which was way too loud for my tastes. I added the two disc insert and it quieted it a lot but with a nice tone and added quite a bit of midrange without any noticeable loss in top end. Total package less then $100.00 and a real nice powerful sound and great H.P. Check them out, you just might be surprised. Bob |

not looking to quiet it down, i actually bought the force baffle but i dont want to put holes in my pretty pipe for no difference, i was just wondering if anyone had peaked into one and seen what was inside? cause the noise these things make is something serious! and at bike night a straigh piped harley fired up next to me and sounded pretty close to mine |

Well, those straight pipes don't have anything on a Buell running at WOT with a force pipe. That is one loud pipe. |

Damnit...I just bought one too. It seems like there's only the force and the D&D available from what i could find...and the D&D is ugly. |

I just bought a force and took my Buell Race Pipe off. The sound of the force is loud but it isn't as obnoxious as some make it out to be. It isn't going to be as quiet as a piped GSXR or anything because it is a V-Twin. A stepped pipe(it isn't a staight pipe-the buell race header is) w/a reverse megaphone will always make more power on the top end and less on the bottom, it is physics. On 4 wheelers, a Ron Woods pipe is the same thing and it builds more power on the upper end than other pipes because of the stepped header with the cone that is tappered down at the end. I know that some people don't like them but the guys at Nallin Racing say they make the most power and I don't care about loosing some on the bottom end because the thing has too much on the bottom as it is. My bike was jetted about 2-3 years ago with a Force pipe but about 8 months ago the guy I got it from switched it to a Buell Race Pipe because a weld broke on the Force pipe but he didn't rejet. It ran good when I got it through all RPMs had no flat spots and I thought it pulled really good. Well now that I have the Force Pipe on I am really suprised with the difference. It pulls too hard now, I can barely keep the front end down which that wasn't a problem with the other pipe on but then again it was jetted for this one and not the other one. All in all I am happy with the change. The Buell Race Pipe to me was too quiet and I wanted it a little louder. Here is a link to mine running / reving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3MlMD_dNOI |

A little more info on this .. Some numbers for comparison ... Real numbers .. (no dyno info yet - but that will come in a few weeks) We're talking 1/4 mile times ... Force pipe - 11.948 @ 115.35mph Buell Race Exhaust (empty can, no packing just got that from Al yesterday so I will be fixing that so I get a smoother exhaust flow) - and the bike still tuned/jetted for the Force pipe - 11.946 @ 114.28 When I ran the Force pipe, I ended up running people down after the 1/8 mile mark .. with the Race pipe installed, I still chased people down after the 1/8 mile mark - just not nearly as much because I didn't have to .. found myself not playing catch-up as much with the race exhaust ... Grancuda is right though - the Force does make more power higher in the revs than it does down low ... however, it seems in my experience that the Race Exhaust while not giving the feeling of pulling real hard (as he said - it pulls throughout the rpm range) makes overall better/more power - it just doesn't come on later like the Force pipe, it just comes on .. I am curious to see the dyno numbers as well as 1/4 mile times once the bike is dyno-tuned (for the 2nd time within 6 months) to the Race Header .. Grancuda - ain't it got a sweet sound ? That is the one thing I will miss ... (Message edited by tattoodnscrewd on August 21, 2007) |
