I've had a Suppercrapp, the 90 elbow has cracked three times, it's now in the scrap pile, don't want another one. D&D, to loud, not lookin for,or need any extra attenchion. V&H, our local dealer/suplyer is out, and so is the major distributer, looks like I ain't gettin one any time soon. Who else makes slip-ons for X1's | ||

Jester which Supertrapp do you have? Is it IDS and if so do you have the new version w/ welded elbow? Do you also have front hangar upgrade? I ask because I have had no issues w/ mine ( also a 2K X1 ). Of all the cannisters available I w/ recommend the Trapp. If it has to be something else, the Wiley is a good deal. | ||

I bought one of those ebay Wiley's last year. I already broke the mount off the stainless elbow twice, so I put the V&H back on. I Contacted Wileyco and they said that they have been trying to deal with the ebay seller as they bought out a gross of them that were discontinued from Parts Unlimited. Wileyco no longer supports or warrenties that older style slip on, so good luck if you do end up getting one! | ||

V&H sound nice and work well but I hate that you have to remove the pipe to change the tranny fluid. Are there any on the list that allow clearance for the drain plug? | ||

Warlizard, Don't rightly know what Suppercrapp it is, though they were all the same. Yup, I got all the right hangers. The slip-on came with the bike,I bought used in 05. 1st crack was on the out side of the elbow following the radi. 2nd was on top of bend following circum. 3rd was split along 3/4 the way around the weld for hanger tab. I't in the scrap pile and thats where it final resting place it going to be. | ||

You can also buy a modified stock can. Drummer is one name that comes to mind. I gotta believe that your cracking problems are the result of something other than bad elbows. Was exhaust procedure followed as far as torque specs and sequence? There are many guys on here with 25K plus miles on their Trapps w/ no issues. Matter of fact, Buell even bought them and slapped the Pro-Series label on. I would make sure all else is right before putting on a new can as you might very well crack that one, regardless of manufacturer. | ||

Nate, I think American Sport Bike will tap the tranny case to allow for draining w/out pulling exhaust. You have to send them the case, maybe something to do in winter. | ||

The stock drain plug has a magnet on it that should be cleaned every oilchange. I wouldn't go drilling holes in my engine to accommodate an aftermarket exhaust. | ||

I WOULD HIGHLY recommend the WILEY CO.. Its got a GOOD sound WITHOUT being a OBNOXIOUS cop alerter... The drain plug is the ONE pain in the BUTT. I have a Wileco (sp) on one X1 and a Buell Race Exhaust on the other X1... I just end up DROPPING the exhuast when i do the service.... It takes a few extra minutes... but.... I know that it ALL gets done right. Matt. | ||

First off, I wouldn't drill holes into my engine either. I would have a machine shop drill into the casing while it's off of the bike. The magnetic plug is reused and the old hole is plugged. All they do is relocate the plug to a lower position for accessibility and better drainage. It is a viable alternative to pulling exhaust. You can also get the cam case cutdown to allow better accessibility to underside. I don't think anyone would provide these services if they were harmfull. |
