I wanna see driveway engineering, what have you made to make your bike function, ride, handle, look better? |

Uh oh.... Lots of my bike is from home depot and true value. The daytona boss pipe: Sounds great, performs better, comes with rabbit poop for mounting hardware. Solution? weld the damn thing! when that breaks? cut apart a cheap stainless steel barbecue set and weld that in as a patch!
I dropped my bike on the highway late May and the shifter peg was ground off. I drilled and tapped it. And installed a stainless machine screw with a copper tube.
Some guy wrote on my tank cover in Troy, WI. I think it ads about 7 horsepower.
Breather from to banjo fittings and four aluminum washers. (no catch can, just goes to the road)
Kickstand switch crapped out at about 45,000 upgraded to "permanently on"
Not pictured: $16 dirtbike bars with the cross brace ground off. Persian good luck charm from a friend's wedding. It was cool looking at the time. I thought it was copper like a penny but it was actually STEEL and it rusted almost instantly. That's on my dash. Slotted screws for primary filler cover that I had stripped out just before homecoming. |

Im no good at posting pics but, if you look at my bike posted by Chasespeed in the show off you x1 thread, youll see handmade kick plates when I removed pass pegs. Hand made screens for tail section. Also made a bracket for the oil cooler to be mounted up high out of harms way. |

From a bye-gone age . . .and a bike now living in parts spread round the world . .
. . .a combination catch can/brand commentary. As indicated, it is a "Genuine Harley Davidson" coffee can with a PVC pipe catch can inside. Worked like a charm . . .but looked . . .well, . . . different. |

Home made catch can using a flash light tube as the body, hand saw drill press and belt sander were the tools.
that is the body of a 2d cell mag light. |

Genius! I have a ton of old dead Maglites in the garage (from back when they were used for everything, including driving tent stakes and for "personal protection"). Now I finally have a use for them! |

Undertail of X1 I used a plastic 3 ring binder that when trimmed- just so happened to fit inside of the "U" shaped taillight and signal area. I trimmed it to fit the rest of the area and secured it to the front part of the existing tray.
About a week after I brought the bike home over 5 years ago. |

Yeah, I think its time to sell the Carbon, and start on another bike, before I turn this into a "choppa"..... HAHA Anyway, life hasnt been dull, but, the bike sits collecting dust in the garage, as I cant afford to put a tire on it... I am hoping to get home for a much needed vaca later this year.... Chase |

I built this upper belt guard for my S1 because my passenger kept sticking her shoe on the belt. I used 16 gage steel and coated it in line-x.
And here is a catch can I made out of a glass peanut butter jar.
The filter is tucked behind the rear fairing.
And here is a catch can I made out of a Mrs Dash container that fits under the seat of my XB9Rs (S tail on an R).
I also made a heat blanket out of duct insulator and tape for under the seat, but I don't have any pics. |

@ Chasespeed, nice engine job. Here's my engine: Thank you sir, yours is great as well... I was looking to powder coat the bars, mid rocker box, and a few otehr odds and ends, Nuclear Blue like the frame, BUT, Classic Coatings is the only place with the powder, they wont release it, SO, I would have to pay someone to powder my stuff? Uh, no... I still need to decide whether or not to powder the swing arm, or polish it... Chase} |

I'm glad I'm not the only one that still likes the old boomerang shifter. That peg looks too pretty to touch with a dirty boot. |

"I'm glad I'm not the only one that still likes the old boomerang shifter." I like the boomerang shifter better too, but I feel bad for posting a pic of the rubber covered bolt I use as a toe peg after seeing what Scott did. That's beautiful man. I'm going to shamelessly copy it... ... uh, how did you do it? |
