I was planning on just buying a race ECM, but I came across this dirrect link ECM flashing kit. Acording to american sportbike it works fine on the Stock ECM. The manufactures website states that there are several maps available, I am wondering if one of these is the race ecm map, I am thinking I could buy this kit, and hopefully with little pain reflash the stock ecu into being a race ecu, and then in the future when I add more mods as I plan to I would have the ability to re-tune the bike. I have tuned haltech's and a few other programable EFI's before, and I have a standalone wideband controller/datalogger. Opinions anyone? |

I would contact the manufacturer in Michigan to see if this is possible. When I have called them to inquire about their products they have been very kind and helpful. Is the stock VDO ECM capable of being reflashed? I have a race only ECM and would like to go in with someone on purchasing this software package. Boiler |

You guys need to talk to Al Lighton and Terry Parsley. These guys have been working hard using their own bikes to develop maps for common combos on the dyno with Direct Link. |

I talked with the with american sportbike (20 minutes from my house couincidentaly) They say that it makes no difference wether you start with a race ecm or stock ecm and that they may well be internally identicle. that they can sell several known good tuned maps as starting points |
