Well, the last set of Cometic gaskets I used actually had directions, stating how they went and torque sequencing... Chase |

Obviously there were none or i would not have asked. If anybody has a set or directions they can PDF and send me, ID appreciate it. I have contacted Cometic to see if they could do the same. |

Just as a note, I did get a personal reply from Cometic. Their response was "There is no up or down just orientate it correctly left side to right side which is pretty impossible to get wrong and you’re good. Actually on all of our embossed steel gaskets there is no up or down the embossment will seal either way." Thumbs up to a company like them that can actually send you a personal reply!!! |

Wasnt saying you were blind, or stupid or anything... I kinda figured that, since you posted, that it DIDNT have any of the info... Regardless, thumbs up to Cometic for replying... Second, by the time I found my papers, I was going to answer the same thing.. There was no up or down, just had their own torque sequencing for the head/base gaskets.. The torque specs for the Cometic head gaskets are pretty scarey compaired to the stockers. they are WAY higher than the stock versions but do not require the extra 1/4 turn. |

Just out of curiosity...there were no instructions with my Cometic set either, and I torqued everything to factory spec (whatever-it-is-plus-1/4 turn). Different approaches to the same end result? Bike's been running fine for about 3 weeks now, no problems or leaks...but thought I'd ask anyway. |

yup, diff approaches to the same end..... the torque turn (factory type) is actually more accurate IF done properly but as far as reducing errors, there is nothing like a fancy clicker to tell ya when to stop. |

I turned to factory spec and ran it tonight. No leaks so far. I holding my breath. I was scared to start it buy did not seem to have any issues. |

Good for you, man. You just saved yourself a bunch of money and got to see cool stuff inside your cylinder heads. |

Not only saved a bunch of money but you shouldn't have to do it near as often either. I have had my Cometics in three times as long as any paper factory gaskets but I hear they've changed those now. I would probably stay with Cometic anyway, once bitten, twice shy, right? |
