I would assume a locking gas cap for a 99 would be the same ... Parts book says .... 62155-96Y - Fuel Cap ASM., locking - w/key & item 16 (item 16 is the o-ring) |

The 2001 book lists it as P0153.BA and also includes the O-ring. Probably the same part with a new number, but it's another way to look it up. |

How would you order one keyed for your bike? |

Actually that is a older part number. It will fit but will have a actuall small key not the round "universal" any barrel key will fit lock. |

Which one are you talking about coming with a small key Spidey ? The part number ending in 96. I believe that number will superceed to the newer number.

I hope not - when I check Chicago HD - the price difference between the two was over 30 bucks - I'll gladly stick with the small key one. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Well, only three dealers have the (discontinued) -96y small-key part. H-D of Danbury, CT - 203-730-2453 Highland HD, PA - 814-444-1903 Roanoke Valley HD, VA - 540-562-5424 The part was obsoleted and supersedes to the newer part number. If you want it keyed to your bike, simply give your key code to your parts counterperson (if you don't have it, ping me your VIN and I can get it for you), and they can (should) attach it to your order. Bonus? It comes with 2 more keys ;) For what it's worth: I have the small key version on my S2, and I never lock it. IIRC I had to lock the one on my 99 M2 in order for it to stay shut - not the issue on the S2. There's also a non-locking one out there somewhere, but I don't know the application in order to look it up...but we use them on the race team bikes. Ever try to find a key in the pits? Grrrr... ...or not bonus...maybe that's the extra $$, LOL. And yes, the new number is readily available. (Message edited by ratbuell on July 24, 2007) |
