Greetings,,,, I just picked up a 1999 X1 with 15K for 1700. In line with that price there are lots of problems: Missing (stolen? muffler), stock? stainless header is still there Tires Brakes no seat oil leaks no rear hugger, and no belt gaurd probably other missing pieces (is the x1 supposed to have a belt tensioner?) So my questions start with, where is the best place to buy OEM parts? Where is the best place to buy the cheapest slip on The bike also has a nice custom intake, and is missing some plastic, the part under the tank cover, the intake sticks out from under the tank to the right side. With a custom intake and exhaust is a race ecm required? How do I tell if it already has one (race ecm)? Part numbers? Thanks... |

Congrats on the new bike Try the classifieds for parts, also check out the sponsor section. Thats your best bet for OEM parts, most offer a discount to BadWebbers. You can find a stock muffler for almost nothing, well they are heavy so shipping may suck There were no belt tensioners on the Tube frames. The bike will run better with a race ECM if you have non-stock intake/exhaust, its not required though. The race ecm will have "for race only" printed on it Oil leaks are part of the bike. Some are fixable, others are easier to clean every now and again. It easier to ride an ignore Good luck |

Thanks for the reply, Just bought one of these exhausts for 100 dollars http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUELL-X1-EURO-MODEL -STAINLESS-WILEYCO-EXHAUST-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQc ategoryZ35573QQihZ019QQitemZ290072982495QQrdZ1QQss pagenameZWD1V not entirley sure if it will fit without mods as it says its a euro model, but hey I can weld. Also after checking the manufactures website and looking at the part number I think the seller must be wrong about the US and euro x1 having a different pipe diameter for the header. |

Whos, If you have any doubts about what you're missing, and what you may need, post some pics of the bike. You'll quickly have your shopping list filled up. Great score too! |

it says the pipe is for a 2.25 inch header, which would actually be the s1/s2 etc... The 99 and up have a 2.5 inch header. NOW, you could have a shop make you a bend, or, if you can weld, you can make one. The header outlet, adn diameter are all teh really changed on tuber exhausts, it will physically mount fine I am sure... Race ECM is a great idea whether or not you are dealing with airflow mods... The bike will want to run lean, and will ge tworse with mods... do the race ecm, and save yourself the headache later. Seats, I see them on ebay all the time, in fact, there may be one or 2 for sale on HERE now... Tires, any rocket dealership will have what you need... 120 front, adn 170-190 rear, depending on your preference. Breaks, what condition is the rotor in? Do you need a new one? Pads, get them from HD, like 50 bux a pair.. I am pretty sure is a EBC cross reference, but dont remember off the top of my head... I havent had a rear hugger/belft gaurd for 2 years. Looks better... no ill effects... except, rubber finds its way past the oil bag(my fault, not the bikes, something about flaming burnouts).... The area under the tank cover, was initially covered by the original air box, and you can get the gap fillers from american sport bike. In fact, you can get ANYTHING you need for that bike except pistons etc, from American Sport Bike... Al is GREAT to deal with, and if I need something, I call HIM... But, yeah, post pics.... Chase |
