Hey everyone. Well, I went for a 4 hour ride yesterday, and my butt just couldn't take the stock seat on my 98 S1. Has anyone tried anything from the aftermarket? I was looking at a Corbin, anyone have any other opinions? Thanks!

I have a S1 and I have the same problem. I have a redone seat by Force, which is slightly better than stock but still painful. I've found that bicycle shorts help, but I would really like a better seat. In the past I've thought about a custom seat from Bill Mayer. I have heard good things about his work. With the limited seat surface area of the S1, I just don't know how good it can get.

I bought the Corbon for my S1 and it didn't fit for sh!t. You shouldn't have to alter a 'custom made' seat to make it fit. I cut down the bumpers, but then the rivets scratched the seat pan and the oil cap came up just enough to allow oil to leak out. I returned it and still have the stock 'banana' seat.

Look for a "Euro" saddle by Buell. I don't have a picture of mine handy, but it's got a one-piece cover (no seams) and a better shape than the Corbin.

It won't turn your S1 into a Road King, but it'll help.

I talked to a guy who had this seat on his S1. He said it was a big improvement over stock...

I've rode an S1 "around the block" but sorta longer. Short distance thrill ride. I guess my a$$ needs too much of a seat for the stock weggie to go much further. I think they're great lookin' bikes.

I second Road Thing's suggestion. I have the euro on my S1W and I'm comfy for longer rides. The nice thing is, it's one pretty flat surface so you can put yourself wherever you want to be. It's *not* my FLHP...but I don't expect it to be, lol.

And for the record, I'm a lanky schmuck - 6'4", 200lb, 34" legs.

Now, on my S2...it has the first Corbin I've ever been comfortable on. LOVE that seat.

I cut down the front end of my S1 seat, scooped it out and reshaped the foam, it widened the actual seat area a bit and doesn't push my boys up into my guts any more. local shop recovered it for me, I'll find some close ups on my 'puter at home...

Have ridden to southern Utah and Vegas a couple times.

The pro series was more comfortable than the stock seat but a little too tall for me.

Saddlemen will widen, install a gel insert and use a more stretchy outer material, making your stock seat a custom seat for around $200.

Try Saddlemen Sport touring page and click on "Stealth Seats Applications List and Prices" link to find the Buell S1 application.

The Spandura cover is extremely flexible and together with the gel insert eliminates hot spots making it possible to ride for longer than 30 minutes. But they can add width to the seat making it more of a bucket shape than a 2x4. You'd have to talk to them about this though.

just got the corbin and installed it on my s1, took it for the first ride today; it is much wider (not saying much) more stiff (in a good way) and more flat (not pressing the boys into the tank) i had no problems installing it on my s1 unlike the previous post declared, and it came with a sweet lightning bolt pattern stitched into the rear portion of the seat(way cool, even if you are the only one that can spot it) i can already tell my ass will outlast at least two tank fills of gas, maybe more

Billetmetallic-Where did you order the corbin and how much are they. I thought the seat on my XB was bad. This one(S1) just HURTS the fella's.
