Hi All,

I have a new race kit air cleaner and the original carbon fiber 'other' parts that are greenish in color. Does anyone know how to return them to black?

I think it was the material. My S2 factory oval air cleaner (centered bolt holes) is green/yellow, so's every other one I've seen. My S1W "race kit" air cleaner (offset bolt holes) is nice and charcoal gray. Different manufacturer...different materials...whichever it is, I'm afraid that's just the way they are.

The stock cover on my wife's S2T was an odd shade of greenish-gray, which was the way it was from the factory. They were never remotely black in color.
When the piece-of-crap CARB (California Air Resource Board) mandated Quicksilver air mixing device (I will NOT refer to as a carburator) turned itself into a flame thrower, it turned the cover a crispy brownish-black, with some nice bubbly highlights.
I do not recommend that manner of "returning them to black"

Zen- Some of the guys here have tinted a clearcoat finish with some success. A painter should be able to do it for you.
