Will S1 bodywork bolt on? It may be remains but I plan on giving it the once over, it's gonna be new tires, aircleaner cover and some body work, what else did you notice missing? I am buying it sight unseen except for the pic's, don't worry it's a great price. |

I'm with you Phat. True Buell classics. That appears to be a 95 S2. Actually from these pictures it doesn't look too bad. The inner "hugger" rear fender is missing. It still has the pre recall shock in place. Nice PM wheels. The front 9 button rotor may or may not need replacing. How many miles? If it rattles, replace it with a late model style. If memory serves, Al at American Sport Bike has replacement air filter covers. He also has the billet backing plates. They are worth the expense and are pure machining art. I have it on both of our S2's. Oh yeah, the drive belt looks too tight.... You are gonna LOVE that bike. Brad |

Whoa! Somebody had some fun with that bike! Check out that back tire! You sure that's the pre-recall shock? I thought the pre-recall didn't have the external resivoir. |

Apparently the worn tire got treated to a burnout. Interesting stuff you guys are bringing up, think Buell is still up to the recall if it's a pre shock? |

The recall shock would have an exposed spring, I think. |

If I remember correctly, the original shocks had exposed springs. Then came Recall #1 shock - which appears to be the shock in question here. This shock was also recalled under Recall #2. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Either way, that's a bad shock. You can tell by the style of the eyelet casting. |

The original shock had an exposed spring. That's the original front rotor. IF the backing plate on the air cleaner is not broken the bike has not been ridden properly. |

And the second replacement shock is shorter, and requires new bracket hardware as well. Shock should look like this:

If the hugger was a 1995 it was a green looking exposed weave carbon fiber. If it was a 1996, which this bike is not, it would be a carbon fiber coated with vinylon. Call it a wild guess on my part . . |

Throw some new tires on it (I love my new Conti Attacks) and get a sportster air cleaner cover off ebay. They're cheap and plentiful. The original carbon fiber ones are hard to find and expensive. Don't mess with the body work... from the photo the original paint looks great. Other than the shredded rear tire that bike looks well taken care of. |

I've thought of that Ebutch, but I don't think that would work well. Why they decided to cover up the carbon fiber fenders on the 96's just baffles me. |

They did because quality of carbon fiber finish was poor. I have an extra rear fender if you are interested. All S-2 shocks including the original exposed spring WP unit had external reservoir. That is even the original fiberglass air cleaner backing plate. Must not have been worked on mush as they did not last through a bunch of on/offs. Bike looks nice--except for those ugly HD foot pegs.
