My original one puke all the fluid out, so 300 miles ago I put on a 2001 rear shock, with the external resivoir. Now the new one is puking all the fluid out! It's the front seal (where the cylinder slides in and out of) that's leaking. What kind of job is it to replace that seal? |

Oh god. That's not really the seal there. That's a dust cover. The actual seal is inside the can. They can be rebuilt but costs big bucks. Perhaps someone here knows how to take one apart without you know, killing yourself with that big spring in there? |

How common is this? I've had 2 go out within 3 months. I already put $100 into this one, I can't put much more into it! But now Madness is breathing down my neck. GRRRRR |

And of course this is the first time I've looked on ebay, and there ISN'T one on there! So now I ask my fellow badwebbers... Does anybody have, or know where I can find a tube frame rear shock. I have a bracket for both the 16" and 14" shocks, so either will work, but I would perfer the 14. OEM or aftermarket. HELP! |

Does it look like one of these? Older internal resivoir
Newer external resivoir
Thanks for the ebay link! I searched 'M2 Shock' and 'Cyclone Shock'... but not 'Buell Shock'. |

Stay away from any of the ridiculous Showa shocks. The only reason I could ever see spending a dime on one is if you want to keep your bike absolutely stock... other than that, they are useless and will always let you down... always. I'd get a Works Performance or Penske... check the 'Classifieds' for used units, they show up all the time. Get this... I called Penske to see about rebuilding a used shock I bought off Mutation_racer here on the BadWeb. Penske blew me away with the price of a factory rebuild and nitrogen-recharge... only $90. As it turns out, the shock I got didn't need a rebuild at all. |

Mikef, You've probably seen these, but thought wouldn't hurt to be sure. Hopefully rum_runner's'll fit. I know you're running out of time. ebay Item number: 120095248227 didn't show up on one search-don't know if it's the right one or not, but it ends sooner-no bids another, didn't see it before either, looks scary, old style, but it's cheap, has buy it now- Item number: 190041909366 It's a long way to Georgia and back on an unknown shock, could end up costing a lot more than a new one in the long run. But if you get this far, and break down, give me a call, we'll drag you on down there if we have to. |

I just put a Penske on my S1W, it was pricey but the best money I have spent yet. Still dialing it in (can you say ADJUSTABLE? 22 position rebound, 30 (!) position compression), but I can already see a difference in ride, handling, and reduced "chicken strips" LOL. Used are tough to find; Al at American Sport Bike has new Penskes, WPs and I think one other brand. Great guy to deal with, definitely recommend him to anyone. |
