I did an oil change and as per my usual drill, I un-hooked the return line and ran the engine until until fresh oil flowed.

I would like to know in time or miles how long it takes until the oil tank reaches it's level of operation. I don't want to over-fill.

Why don't you just drain the tank like a "normal" person?

Silas_clone, I drained the oil tank, replaced the filter (first filling the filter before install), filled the oil tank then disconnected the return line and started the bike letting the old oil pump into a pan until it came through clean. Took less than a minute of idling for fresh oil to circulate. Top off oil tank connect return line and go.

Fighter
I wanna avoid the dreaded "overfill" syndrome.

I am curious how long it takes for the pump to empty the mini-sump etc., so that the the actual oil tank level is achieved.
It's no biggie, plenty of oil. Just wonderin'.
The old Sporty pumps were pretty low pressure and I think it took quite a few miles to circulate the oil one time thru.

Nate, really buddy, it's not a real tough job.

Gee, so I just changed part of my oil. Now I'm curious, how much doesn't come out, just draining normally?
You know, the hardest part, for me, was finding enough people.
The oil kept pouring out of the filter. It took nine guys to screw that motorcycle onto the filter while I held it upright.

Ed:
the capacity of the tank is ~ 2qts and the filter is a few ozs 4~6 some thing like that. the lines hold a little and theres a little here and there in pools in the engine, me I wont do the 5 quart change because I would have it EVERY WHERE too.
