HI, I don't think the X1 is ugly either. But compared to the S1, S2, and S3 its styling takes a bit to get used to. Also, I think 8000 2001 X1s were made compared to 1100 S3s. So the S3 may be harder to find and coveted a bit more. Here are some pics from over 20 years ago in Seattle Wa. I was dropping out of high school and hanging out at a biker shop - see knit hat. The Guzzi is from our 3 month tour of the USA. The Ducati was my brothers, purchased from a grey market dealer in Canada.

RS's with S-2 bodywork are even faster, and look best of all!

the X1 looks like a pregnent guppy yes they do look like pregnant guppies
Thats cheap and easy to fix,
Taste like many things is subjective, The X1 was the pinacle of tuber developement. Things like an alloy tail, Color molded in plastic body pannels, FI, removable side plate, Its a snarling, nasty, teeth bared, streetfighter that had to be muzzled and muffled to conform to the standards, a few bux and a few bolts release the beastie and its usualy the Guppy that you see in the old buell wheelie pix IIRC it was also the X1 you see in one advert sitting beside a big smilley saying "have a nice day". BTW CF is the FASTEST COLOR |

If yours was still stock you'd be singin' a different tune. My favorite X1's were those of the old Thunderbike and Lightning series days when a few enterprising teams were converting 'em to carbs and putting custom tailsections to fit S1 bodywork and using the slim S1 tanks. Motorcycle Online, Hal's H-D, and Wes Orloff's were a few I remember. |

Stock, you mean there are any stock Buells out there?? And the T is for TURBO!!! Allan, unless you have something hidden on that bike it's not faster than the beast.(Course not much S-2 left on it engine/bodywise.) |

That was a "general" comment and was by no means meant to be construed as an implication that my RS would be faster than the "beast"!! (is ANYTHING?) Is it back in 'fighting trim' yet? How 'bout some new photos, Jim! AL |
