I posted here because i wanted to identify with "Tubers". It runs crappy since i replaced it.Ran fine previously.I damaged it doing maintainance, which is why i replaced. |

okay, the one thing I do know... Back the idle adjustment all the way out, so you KNOW the throttle is closed...zero it, and go... Then again, I have never used the software, just had the HD dealership re-set it, and it cost me a half hour labor.. Chase |

It worked! initially,i didn't "snap" the throttle shut, thus getting to true zero. This time i did,and after performing the zero function i then set the throttle to 5.1 on the scale. And VVVVRRRROOOOMMMM! It now runs like a top again. COOL software that VDSTS stuff, well worth the money my good friendly Bueller let me borrow. Gee,this is a great community |

Don't snap the throttle, that gives inconsistent results. You should back off the screw and gently force the throttle closed so that when you reopen it, it sticks as the butterfly wedges in the bore. Re stick it, THEN push the TPS reset button, and you'll get consistent results. Al |

The service manual states "Do not allow to snap shut" and "open&close slowly 5 times" at this procedure.Let's just say i exercised maybe, too much caution initially. But i don't imply taking it to WOT and releasing 5 times either.I can now feel it Seal.... |

I think there was a service bulletin that changed the TPS reset procedure from what it said in the manual to the gently forced shut method. The fact that the service manual doesn't have the updated procedure is why so many get set poorly at the dealers. If they follow the old manual method, the zero setting can be slightly off. Al Al |

I guess I did it wrong, mebe thats why it was a headache to get the TP set and a good idle, I did it a second time still the wrong way and when it was idling it was on teh marks and worked good so I left it. If understand this correctly Al Gently force the butterfly shut with the adjustable stopper backed all the way out. repeat a few times and zero it. BTW thanks.. |
