You know until today I had never checked my vin, but out of curiosity I decided to decode it today. Turns out that, according to the vin, it's an S2-T. I thought the S2-T's had the "T" on the rear decal. Mine just has S2. It didn't come with the bags or side fairings when I got it but I guess that's not surprising. I wish I knew what happened to them, it would be cool to put them back. Also the last number tells you which number your bike was for that year, correct? If so then mine was number 49 for 1996. |

Those bags would have been pretty valuable just by themselves. I'm sure somebody along the line sold them off seperatly. Sucks, Dude. |

hey not purple s2.. yours was a s2t.. the powder coated side plates are a dead give away.. think the s2t only came in two colors.. kinda purple or grey/silver body work.. it looks like some one replaced your s2t body work with the dark blue body work off a s2 some where along the line.. thats the reason for the no s2t decal.. the dark blue body work should be on a white powder coated frame... hope this helps.. |

My RS is an S2T, too! What's up with THAT?

Ebutch, they come in Aerocharger kit. Curtiss, you are going to get your S-2 license revoked for showing such a lack of S-2 knowledge. The S-2T(only a 1996 model) had the charcoal frame and colored sideplates--standard S-2's were all white framed with aluminum sideplates(Slap upside head--) and IIRC your VIN has no correlation to which number bike you have. For example, my first S-2 had a vin ending in 000036 but was not the 36th built in 1995. Ebutch - Just to elaborate on what the fireman said - the header hooks up to this funny-looking muffler.

That S2 / RS of yours is the buell I would take, if I could have anyone one Buell. I can not praise that piece of art enough. |

Make sure your insurance company knows that your bike is the S2T and not the S2. My S3T insurance is half the price of the S3. Discount for a touring bike, rather than a sport bike. |

Doughnut - Thanks for the compliment! It's a pretty nice bike, overall. Rather fast. I just have never been real comfortable on it - I've always had 'FL' type Harleys and 'Springfield' Indians. They are more my style. Although vintage bikes, cool as they are, can be a royal pain in the ass to actually own and ride! I would trade it for a big twin ('cop' dresser, FXR, FXDX, or the like) if you know anyone that's just GOTTA have it! AL |

Aaomy, Thanks. That explains why my front fender does not match the rest of my body work. It's silver instead of parkway blue. I was always worried that it could be a sign that the bike was in an accident and may have suffered front end damage. Anyone out there want to sell their S2 bags? FMJ, Thanks for the info.
