Well fired it off today, did the heat cycling, etc....

Found a problem though...

I ended up needing a new rocker box o-ring bought it from harley....

Guess what is the only leak I have? Yeah, THAT o-ring, it was some brown one, not eh black like I had in there, and I follwed the torque specs....

So, now I get to pull the top back off, for a stupid little o-ring... oh yeah, it was doing ALOT more than dripping...

Anyway, yes, its alive, and hopefully I will get some pics resized, and posted tonight...

Joe, a MAJOR thank you...and to you as well Oldog....

I dont know how many people actually read anything I say on here...but, hey...

Oh, yeah, by the way...

It runs MUCH better, and feels MUCH, MUCH better...

BTW, confirmed on measuring, the pistons I had in there(in there before I bought it), were LIGHTNING pistons, with the 10* dome, vice the 15* of the T-storm...

There was heavy blow by, and as some saw, some serious scoring of the rear cyclinder...

Anyway, just messing around, and riding(below 3000), its makes a bit more power than it had before I tore it apart...

Dyno time here soon....

I'll be replacing that same o-ring on mine today too. I didn't seat it correctly in my haste while fixing a leak on the lower pushrod seal. IF you are concerned about the "brown" color, I have replaced these things recently and the new ones I got from the Buell dealer were indeed brown, instead of the black ones that came out originally.

The "Gasket" that goes between the lower and mid rocker box parts...its rubber, thus I call it an o-ring...

Yeah, I am still infected, figure, I am gonna try to see what I can get away with, before I need to switch over(oh yeah, and I am broke too, so no money to switch over)..

Anyway, gonna snag a gasket today, after I pick my blues up from the tailor, and head to the shop, REMOVE all tank and whatnot, replace that damn gasket...THEN, to it again, put a tank of gas through it on the road, behaving myself, then, gonna ride it normally....

Oh yeah, other change I made, and done know yet if its gonna help long term..

Switched to the DPR8EA9, from the 9ea9... there was ALOT of build up on the plug, consitstantly, rich, so, went a LITTLE hotter...seems to idle a bit betterthan with the 9ea9...but, we'll see...

So what is your final butcher's bill this time around?
Two new juggs and pistons?
Did you go all mental on the engine like you were threatening to do before?

72:1 compression?
4570cc bigbore?
Gold-plated piston rings?

Not yet, just went with a 1250, 10.5:1(leaving room for go-juice)

For right now, thats ALL I did, as the money wasnt there for other things...

Next is gonna be heads and cams, BUT, I have to snag that Force Exhuast someone else holding for me first...

This wasnt the PLANNED devil engine...

Hell, maybe next witner, I will do the 90ci, etc etc etc...

BUT, For now, whil estill trying to float this business month to month...it isnt in the budget...though, Tiff said she might buy the cams....woohoo love having a understanding and supporting, er, I mean supportive g/f... sure beats the ex-wife..

Anyway...

Butchers bill?

775.00 Even for the 1250 kit including shipping(Dan did me a military discount)...

8.88(yeah, I have the reciept), for oil pump gasket, and rocker box gasket...

Uh, 3.58 for the spark plugs, 10.bux for oil...

Plus, gonna do another oil change this weekend, then another in a month...

So, not too bad...

The head, cams, etc... is where the price is gonna go way up, I know I can get a set of 536s for a decent price, and work it from there...BUT...

I still need to get a baseline dyno here...if money allows..within the next month..240 bux...

well, the odo is stuck at 49500, and has been for a while.....speedo sensor my guess... but I never bother with that thing..

I would say probably about 51k, maybe more..not too sure...

The NEW build has 6o miles on it, all today...and all at less than 3000 rpm, well, on the highway for about 3 miles it was less than 3500...

Its killing me....I WANNA FLOG THE CRAP OUTTA THIS THING!!!!!!

Soon though, figure this weekend... I know, no one wants to hear it...but, I been waiting a month to do this, well, a little longer than a month.....

Well, did the heat cycles, hell, like I said, I I put about 60 on it last night, to warm up, rode, stopped and b/s'd with a friend for baout 10-15 minutes...

Fired off, warmed it for a minute...rode it... stopped and cooled...warmed again, headed back to the shop... shut it down, checked for leaks... all looked great...

NOW, the only thing I notice, and it could be the oil I am using, OR just that the old slugs were making so much nooise...BUT, I hear the rockers OR the lifters REAL clearly now...

I was gonna wait till I pu the regular oil back in this weekend before I started stressing it, especially since it feels great...

And I know about the bottom end..just being overly paranoid about it...becuase, I can be REALLY hard on an engine...

If you used Sythetic now, Which was recommended to me when the 1250 was installed then the common consequence of that is that you can hear the rockers, nothing to worry about....

I'd like to see the Dyno run, I am hoping to get mine done this spring too....
Hoping to get over 100 at the wheel.

It does fairly easy second gear 45 mph wheelies, so I know the torque is there.

Well, as mentioned in the other thread...

I changed the oil...and I can still hear the rockers pretty clearly...but, doesnt sound major... Worse comes to worse, I will buy some rollers

But that could be a while.

I did stay with the FI... Now, if I could just find a nicer coil, I would be in business...

I have roller rockers and run mobile 1. When I was setting up a shift light had the tank off and was able to hear the rollers. I was told by Reno that they will make noise. So don't look for them to cure the noise issue.

No, I wish, I will need them when I swap cams though... its the lower o-rings that are leaking on the rear cylinder..
