I have an '01 M2L that has just started to develeop some long, straight cracks (2-3") in the tail section back by the rear mounting bolts, under the seat. I dremeled the cracks out into a channel to fillet weld them with a plastic welder, however I am unable to determine exactly what the composition of the plastic is for using the correct rod. Also, these cracks don't go all the way through; maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the plastic's thickness.

Any suggestions, or perhaps a better method of repair?

Thanx,
Doof

I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong, but I believe they are fiberglass.

The "old ones" like my 2000 are fiberglass-reinforced plastic and are white on the inside with traditional paint applied.
The newer ones (I think 2001 and up) are plastic like a dirtbike and so the same color all the way through.

Actually, the tail section on mine is a solid black with a traditional paint applied. The material is very similar in appearance & properties to the stock license plate bracket.
