I just picked up a 97 S1 a couple weeks ago and have begun fiddling with it. I took the front fairing off and am now wanting to either relocate the tach and speedo lower towards the headlight or get a smaller speedo and tach.

Anyone do this or get smaller gauges?

Here is a link to smaller guages.

FYI a solo shift light would look real clean...

They list two speedo's. One with a 2240:60 or 2:1 ratio. Which one would I need do you think?

I made a new dash, and relocated it further down...

Hope that helps...

It's amazing how good a 10 year old motorcycle can look.

Chase, I had considered something similar but Im not sure if it will look right with the gauges being so close to the headlight. It would definitely be easier to work with the factory gauges. Nice work.

Thanks, that was done fast, and its been through a couple different...phases...still need to finish the bottom panel..and fill the previous mount holes with weld..then clean it back up...

But, i have been looking at the Dakota Digital stuff. I can wire the warning lights to small LEDs, or something similarand go from there...

Still havent disconnected the gauges from the wirirng, and tried to start the bike...

Cause, I would just assume not use any gauges..my speedo doesnt work, and the tach isnt lit anymore... why not?

I like the drag specialties mini gauges but dont know if its mostly a plug and play installation. I think I'll need an adapter for the tach because of the buells single fire ignition but Im really not sure yet. Hoping someone here has been through this already.

THe dakota digital stuff is nice but way to rich for my blood.

I noticed a set of handlebars on one of the sites I was at, maybe drag specialties and they bolted directly to the shock tower/tree or whatever its called. This might be something to look into with your setup. It eliminates the bar brackets and gives you more room. You may give up a little bar height though.

yep here they are: http://www.dragspecialties.com/fatbook/1736/51/238 1100

Yeah, those are CrossRoads...had a set or 2 of those before...BUT, expensive to replace in teh event of a wreck, hence the steel bars now...

The Dakota stuff is expensive for me as well, especially considering my current situation...

You should be okay with the Mini-Tahc, though I honestly wouldnt probably bother..I would personally go with the single speedo(if you want), and the Shift light....SO...

I'm thinking of using this "Motogadget Light"
Speedo and dash light setup on my Buell. Mainly as I'm using XB front end so I wont have a speedo cable setup for my original dash.

Chase you need to get an S3 or XB lightning handle bar clamp.
Will look much tidier.
