Hello all, first let me say thank you for this wonderful resource of all things Buell. I have a question regarding my 01 Cyclone. When I keep the oil level within the range specified by her dip stick, my old girl blows oil out the breather filter or at least thats what appears to be happening. Once a sufficient amount has been expelled, every thing is dry (or as dry as the bike can be). Any advise on this matter would be greatly appreciated. |

Or if I would looked a few posts later I would seen a bunch of info on catch cans. Is that really the answer or just a band aid. |

Your best course of action(IMO) is to install XB rocker boxes(do away with the old system) and don't over fill the oil tank(check only when the oil is hot and bike in up right position). Some still use catch can. I haven't found it to be necessary on mine(2K M2). Enjoy working on your bike, it's alot of fun and rewarding.....Charlie |

When you change the oil, fill the tank with two quarts and warm up the engine then shut it down and check the oil level on the dip stick. That should be your 2-quart fill reference for a full oil tank. If yoru newfound 2-quart mark is below where you have been keeping the oil level, then try maintaining the level no higher than that. |

The oil level on my 2000 M2 just barely touched the tip of the dip stick when fully warmed up/test ridden after a two quart oil change (as per the manual). That was with the bike on the side stand and setting on level ground. At various times I added small amounts of oil to bring it back up to no more than 1/4" or so on the dip stick. But I only did that after riding when the bike was fully warmed up and the sump well pumped. There is a ton of sad stories in the KV about the horrible things that can happen with an overfilled oil bag. Jack |

Yup. I keep my oil just barley touching the dipstick, or not touching at all and it never seems to get lower. If I put more oil in, it'll just blow out. I use the long HD filter that increases internal oil capacity an extra 1/2 quart. I gives me some piece of mind when I run the oil that low in the bag. |

My 2000 M2 is the same as DJ's and Jack's. Barely touching the dipstick works best. It's been that way since day one. |
