ok I finally had the time to tear the front cylinder down crank is shot.Piston detached from wrist pin totally. Cylinder is scorn not to bad. Everything needed to be done to this is going to fun me at least $2000. So I'm thinkin sell the bike without the motor with the title. I saw one sell on ebay a few months ago sell for $1800 I think I may go this route. Does about $1500 sound right to put out for auction? I'm temped to go the fix it way. but it's alot of $$$ looking maybe to pick up a x-1 in the spring and let this go. any input..Thanks |

yea, what do you want for your tail piece, as it should fit on my o2 and what kind of intake do you have on the bike. btw, just part it out if you look around, you can get a bike for twice what it would cost you to rebuild the motor. got my buddy one back in september for 3500, 2900 miles on it and it was an 02 also. if he gets rid of it, i get first dibs on it. when my other m2 got totaled while my daughter was riding it, i was still able to get rid of it for 400 as was. check around and you should be able to get maybe 800 for it. let me know what you want to do. either way. |

did you quote out parts for a re-build? are there other things you are going to be replacing? Did you frag the cases? How much you gonna sell the motor for? |

I rebuilt my motor for way less than you would imagine. Everything comes up on eBay if you can be patient and for a lot less than retail. My biggest outlay was having my old type Millenium cylinders repaired. The S&S rod and crank pin kit was $398 across the counter in CA. I found the exact same Wiseco forged pistons brand new on eBay. No one else bid so they came at auction start price of about $40 for the pair. The valves brand new off eBay cost peanuts. Everything is out there if you search, and it can be had stupidly cheap often. Don't give up until you've done your homework. Think of it like this. Your loss is someone else's gain. Rocket |

I could use a motor project.... Wonder how long it'd take me to drive to New Jersey.... Need to get me a bobbing vulture head for the dash first, though. |

I got a price of $900 for bottom end rebuild everything done new oil pump drive gear including. Thats crank rebuild and balancing. plus new pistons rings heads are fine just need cleaned up and do the what you should while the heads are off like valve guides ect ect are and all like $1500 plus like 40 hours of my time since I'm new to all this stuff. How much does it cost to replace guides and valves and all for the heads and then bead blast the heads and bore cylinders out? |

sounds like a low price for that work. basic head cleanup runs about $200 plus parts here in louisiana. custom milling and porting runs the price up. owner assy of top end to lower end. cylinder boring here is $65 per cylinder. dont hammer the piston pins in our out-use a pushing tool. keep everything clean on assy. good luck whichever way you go. tim |

was just in the parts classified and it appears another m2 is lost, so maybe you should try to keep your's on the road one way or another. |

EZ -- bobbing Vulture Head -- I spewed coffee all over the keyboard! ;-} Hey if a Vulture will make this whole thing go away I would do it. If I got $1500 for everything I would take it it got a mikuni carb and carbon fiber air cleaner. 1,500 miles on tires updated shifter. let me know if anybody wants it. |

if you are going to get rid of it, then part it out. i never got rid of everything but at least i tried to help some people out with what i did get rid of. of course if i did live closer i probably take the bike from you and find another motor to throw back in. |

Unfortunately, I can't do it on today's budget. I think some deserving individual will get it soon, though. It's enough to get me off my butt and list a few things I've had laying around the house so I can be ready for the next option. |

lol Well with how much I work it's just not easy for me to take the time to work on so if $1500 cames my way I think it would be the way to go..I will miss it. sucks but that's the way it is sometimes. |
