I am thinking about building a dozen or so lowering brackets for the rear of my buell x1, but only if anyone is interested. These kits are designed to go on/off in less than 5 minutes, are pretty dummy proof, and I can make them for specific amounts of lowering. *Warning* I will make them as low as possible, but too low will put the rear tire into the oil bag with a passenger or big bump. I know, trust me. Anywhere from 1" to 5 1/2", I can use zinc fasteners or stainless, or polished stainless. The bracket material options are steel, iron, or maybe polished aluminum. (If I test it and it holds up). Also, for sale is a chromed x1 tail section, used for about a year. Pics will be up soon. Also, just a question for everyone. Is anyone in need of machined odds and ends, and what is it worth to you? The lowering brackets start at 20 for the iron/ zinc. Iron is painted to your need. Delivery options are through USPS. Let me know, so I can decide what to do... Billet catch can cover might be available, provided buddy dosen't want it. It uses gerber baby bottle for can, or anything else that will fit. | ||

Here are pictures of the lowering bracket I made for a '95 S2 and a '99 X1. They are just modified stock brackets painted black. The brackets relocate the front shock mount 3/4" which result in lowering the bike about 1 1/4",   | ||

I cut a bracket and rewelded it for my gf. Your bracket mod looks like a better idea since it doesn't depend on the welder, proper heat, tensil strenth, and such. Good idea! | ||

That would be a race shock mount. Used to be available from Buell. Doubt a dealer would be much help so try to get in touch with Henry Duga at the factory. | ||

Karma, I have an idea for you. It would take about 1/2 an hour to install, would require a way to get the weight off the rear. If you are interested I can make it for you at a cost of....... As soon as I price the fasteners......... IF you are interested. I will try to engineer it tonight, and if it holds to my weight test (1000 lbs. per side) Let me get back to you............ |
