I have owned my M2 for 16 months. Turns [sweepers?]that I wobbled thru a year ago at 50mph I now take at 70...a good thing? Anyway, it has opened up a whole new riding experience. It also has me thinking about BMW R1200S's and Ducati SR4's, as in: "what else am I missing?" What is the difference [besides money] between a Monster and a tuber? |

Torque I rode an M2 and a Monster within an hour of each other during the research phase of my last bike purchase -- both were very nice bikes indeed -- to things threw the decision to the Buell First (and by far the most minor) -- Local Ducati dealer was a, er, ehem, thought very highly of themselves and made the purchasing experience similar to the efforts requried to date my daughter -- Buell dealer was simply ignorant and incompetant, but didn't seem to mind taking my money Second (and largest factor) -- Torque. I kept looking for the Baldwin Locomotive Plant logo on the engine . . . . The only time I came CLOSE to regretting my decision was when Okra killed the stator after 60,000 grin-infected miles -- even then, no contest |

Bomber is, once again, pretty much dead on the money. I simultaneously owned an S1 and an M900. The Monster had the better seat and the better top-end rush. The S1 had (and still has) the torque. Otherwise, they're very similar. Sold the Duke and kept the S1, though, because I can service the Buell at home and get parts from Daves or my local shops, while the Ducati dealer didn't impress me. rt |

"Torque" Yeah... that's it. Not so much the amount as when it hits - right away. Not a big thing, but still a novelty after all these years of riding bikes with sky high power bands. I'd rather do more... with less. |
