I bought 00 Cyclone about a month ago and have been reading up in the manual and checking over the bike to see what goes where. I noticed that some sticky fluid has been dripping on my intake manifold from a small hose that runs from the back of the carb that connects to a some kind of plastic housing with a electrical connector. What is this thing and can I just disconnect the hose and plug it? The stuff has found its way to the top fin of my rear cylinder and I am having a hard time trying to get it off with out messing up the finish. Thanks Brutis |

That might be your VOES ("vacuum operated electrical switch") which is part of the ignition system. No, ya can't disconnect it and plug the hoses! It sounds more like a fuel seepage to me - the air flow will cause a small amount of leaking fuel to partially evaporate and leave a sticky residue. Maybe the vacuum hose is acting to route the leak on the outside of the hose. Since its a vacuum line, nothing will be coming out of it! "Bite the bullet" and pull the tank and see WTF is the source of the problem. DO NOT run the bike with the VOES not connected and working!! Don't ask me how I know this. AL |

Al I have pulled the tank. The residue stain on the intake manifold starts directly under the VOES.Then it runs under the intake manifold where it drips onto the top fin of the rear cylinder. At first I thought it was a blown head gasket.I will check the connection between the switch and hose.
