Here's a picture of the top tie bar I have added just like on X1 Buells, Just had to add a little metal tab for the frame mount.
Will finish the weld once I pull the bike down for powder coating.

Hey Joe, How goes it?
I'm about ready to paint my frame, and I still have to finish polishing the swingarm, then for the most part it's done. I found some bearings for my Buell by marchesini wheel, but I still have to put them in. I'm still a bit worried about chain contact with the swingarm mounting block so I'm gonna put it toghether a bit in order to check it, but after that its pretty much like an erector set...How's things going on your end, done painting yet?

G'day Corey,
I havent done much more our baby is being born on Monday. But while i'm on holidays I will get to it.
I won't paint or powder coat anything until I'm 100% happy with all my mods.
Just in case I need to get out the welder and grinder!
You must post some picture's and show all the other Bad Webber's your ride.
Look forward to seeing it.

actually did a test fit last night. It was pretty neat to see a tuber buell stand on it's own without the motor or some funky bar holding the back end to the front...didn't get pics though. will hopefully get some this weekend...

G'day, I want to relocate my regulator to under the seat on my project Buell.
It will still be in the open. it should still get enough air flow, I guess.
Can anyone shine any light (pros/cons) on this before I do it. I think it will look very tidy.

I have sorted most of the wiring out, relocated bits and pieces, shortened rear part of harness for the tail lights/indicators.
Will try and post the pics tomorrow.
I have just about completed all of my mods.
Next time I pull it down she's getting new Sunset Orange powder coat to match the new wheels.

If H-D can cover em with chrome, I'd think you wouldn't have a problem putting it under the seat. I've never seen it done though. Bet that would really clean the bottom up too...

Joe -- I put my MaDeuce regulator up under the seat -- no problems at all at all . . . just had to lengthen the wiring loom a couple of inches -- very pleasant way to spend an hour or so (with beverage breaks)

Didn't you fab a plate to mount it and the ignition module to? If you did, did this plate have to be grounded to the frame for the VR to work properly?

Thanks guys,
I just used the S3's ignition module plate (transplant)
I have'nt mounted the regulator yet.
I will cut a piece of chrome moly flat plate and weld it to the subframe to mount the reg to.

Bomber I will have to shorten my wiring loom so should be a piece of cake!

Hows your bike coming Corey?
Mine is so very close to being done, very exciting!

I should have some new pics tonight.

I'd like to see it too, as it looked excellent with the old paint.

my main frame is ready for paint, still have to touch up a few things but for the most part ready. I haven't had the time to build the subframe for the tail yet, and I have all the parts I need scattered around my place, but both the honey and the dewlist are getting bigger....One of these days I'll actually get pics going, as I've taken a few.

I spoke to Buell mechanic today he claims that the regulator will fail if I move it under the seat. What do you all reckon?

here's some pics of the project.

I was wondering if you, or anyone for that matter, knew the OD of the wheel bearings on the rear XB's. I may just go with those if they are close...

It's just in place of the side stand switch...
Just a slight deterrent against unwanted riders...If you get my drift?
might have to paint it black so it does'nt stand out so much! : )

I'm working on a muffler at the moment have bought a couple of resonators and going to cut and shut them to look similar to a D&D item.

Corey do you think it would be possible for you to see if you can get me a price on a Baker Long Life steel 26T pulley for my project.
Dealers in Australia have so much trouble communicating with Baker Drivetrain it can take up to 3 months for parts...not good!

If your successful then I could send payment for it and you could maybe post it for me...let me know what you think.

thanks Jodie

Are you talking about the fined side facing open air?

Or

The regulator being completly covered?

As long as the fins are exposed to open air it will be fine.
I have seen plenty of regulator mounted simulare to what you are talking about.}

You mean one of these?

http://www.bakerdrivetrain.com/dialup/xlproducts/STEELLONGLIFEPULLEY.htm

Haven't checked all the shipping avenues but your looking at about 2 bills to your door in about two weeks via USPS.

And I agree with spidey, as long as thier is airflow it should be fine. I know the HD guys cover thiers with a chrome cover all the time so moving it to the back shouldn't be a problem as long as it has some air to transfer heat to it should be fine...

Spider and Corey thanks for that, I thought it would be fine too, as it will be in the open air. The mechanic must have thought I was going to completely cover it.

Corey that is the part, 26T pulley. I've sent you an email re the pulley.

thanks

Here's my exhaust I'm building at the moment started with 2 "hot dogs/resonators"
cut the ends off, should look similar to D&D set up when completed.
I'm after a set of XB12 headers good condition or damaged, going to modify to fit my S3/S1/XB mutant!

As you will see in the pictures I made the rear bracket with a triangle hole for the oil lines to pass through. I think it will look pretty cool once all welding is done and I will have them ceramic coated silver.
The 2 chrome ends will be cut down, welded on then ceramic coated along with the rest of the exhaust.

wow jodie your going full bore-kinda like buying a man a fish dinner vs. teaching him how to fish->instead of buying a new bike you learned-already knew how to weld and bend metal, very cool.

My bike has a 57.75" = 1443.75 mm which I thought was odd-as I didn't think our frames were that much different, steering head angle maybe had more to do with it than anything. This is an inch and half longer than the previous set up but since I raised the rear up and thus decreased my steering angle I was able to put the forks back at the top of the trees-essentially it made it a little bit bigger bike-about an inch in seat height taller and about an inch and half longer axle to axle.

I didn't get any e-mail Jodie, but from what I gathered by calling the Baker folks directly is that you could buy stuff directly from them, and I'm sure that they would send it to Australia. If that don't work let me know and I can get it to you.

Corey I must measure it again, I originally measured from axle to axle center I may have miss read it(STUFFED UP!)

I resent the email to you.

So you have it all back together?

Since raising the rear have you put your chain and sprockets on, any clearance issues?

I'm not saying that your measurment was wrong. I thought the S3-isn't that what you had originally, had a more relaxed steering angle than the S1. Thus I was thinking that they would be the same. When I had the S1 it looked to be pretty much the same after the steering tube as the M2, so I was just surprised by the difference is all.

My bike was pretty much complete save for the engine, so it will drop down by a good 3/4" after putting that back in, I'll shoot you pic here if i can find the goofy transfer cord that I always seem to be misplacing: ) I have not been able to put the sprockets on as I still need to pop out the old bearings and find some suitable replacements. I'm hoping that I can pick up a set of XB bearings and they will fit right in given that I need to use that size ID since I'm using the XB axle. I would really like it if I could keep my Marchesini's if for no other reason than I like the way they look. I did do some clearancing on the swingarm mounting block which should help in that area. I only have a 24t front with a 54 out back which is the exact same ratio as a 27/61 in the belt, and they look to be the same size sprockets so I should be OK on that front.

I had my cousin's up here today visiting our new baby.
My cousin Michael owns a Yamaha MT-01(YamaBuell) which he wanted a pair of race stand bobbins for, so I got busy on the lathe this afternoon while all the girls were going goo gah over Brodie.

An excuse to use my tools is not really ever needed when it comes to bikes!
(the fence is another story : ))

I took some pictures of the spools/bobbins
before he went home, now I have to make some more for my bike. Good practice I guess.

I also relocated my regulator today, I mounted it on the tail light seat support bracket.
