Hey guys, I just bought a really gorgeous S2, picked it up from a fellow BWB'er that hangs out here sometimes. He mentioned that the bike tended to go through clutches (it's turbo'd) and so he installed a Barnett clutch with an extra clutch plate in it. He did say it has a pretty stiff pull on it, and indeed it requires something of a supermanly heave to get the lever to meet the ol' handlebar. A lot of stop and go riding leaves my knuckles screaming for mercy, so at his suggestion I ordered the Muller Power Clutch from American Sportbike. My question is have any of you guys tried it, and does it work as advertised? I'm not trying to reduce it down to a one-fingered pull or anything, but if I could get it to anything close to the pull on my X-1 I'd be happy! Thanks! | ||

Yes it does. I was skeptical at first, but there was an amazing difference when I installed it on my M2. Before it was almost unbearable when in traffic for a while and taking the MSF course was the last straw (I was hurting bigtime after). Now, I hardly notice any effort on my clutch hand. Also make sure your clutch cable is lubed properly. | ||

Does anyone knows the p/n of that new and improved clutch release ramp,Buell/HD invented in 2005?Does anyone tested it and knows the price? Ralph | ||

I thought they only changed the tranny fluid formula and reduced the cluch spring strength? | ||

there are a few companies making products to help with this problem but i dont want to spit out any part numbers or pricing because i own a shop myself and dont want to step on the toes of any badweb sponsors.i am sure if you call one of the sponsors from this board they will be more than happy to help you. | ||

@Natexlh: AFAIK the company changed the design of that ball holding thing, respective the inner ramp for Buells and Sportsters. But maybe I'm wrong and there is only that Twin Cam kit P/N 36808-05,that includes an inner/outer ramp and a new diaphragma spring. @Screamer: What should be the problem,if you tell someone an OEM p/n? I was saying that there are several companies that make products to take care of stiff pulling clutches.The reason I said I dont want to step on toes is because I am sure the sponsors on badweb pay to be here.Im not real sure of all the rules but I love this site and would like to stay a member.I am not a real big fan of oem parts,because the aftermarket world usually picks up where the factory failed. | ||

I got the Muller Power Clutch (very quick shipping from American Sport Bike) and installed it this evening. It does indeed make a big difference. The clutch was painfully tight before, and I mean that literally. As mentioned above this is a turbo bike and has a Barnett clutch installed on it. Too much stop and go riding and my wrist and fingers were hurtin'. The ball & ramp assembly took little time to install and the clutch pull is now just a little stiffer than my stock X-1 clutch, which is a big improvement over what it was! The T-bolt is much more pleasant to ride now!! |
