Hello all. I just recently scored these for my 96 S2T.   My question is... would anyone of you happen to have a copy of the mounting instructions for these? They weren't included in the deal. I searched the web and came up empty handed. All I have to go by is these pics I got from here a while back.   Any and all info or help will be appreciated! | ||

Eazy.I have a set and it looks fairly intuitive as to where everything goes.Just pull off brake,shifter and pegs and hold them up,can't really be too many ways they can go.I have not tried them yet as they won't work with my Banke shifter. | ||

Firemanjim - Yeah I'm sure it can't be that hard. Although it would be nice to be able to look at a pic of how it all works. Sometimes just because it looks right, doesn't mean it is. Trust me I know this one all to well.  | ||

sorry i havent been able to post in a while... as usual life is crazy.. relation ships dont relate and just got back form visiting my grandfather in the hospital... such is life,, so we need s2 peg relocaters??? personaly i kinda like mine where they are now that i made my own pegs.. fireman ,, if you want to use those rear sets and we need to mod you banke shift set up to work... just say so!!! owe you one!!! this is the last addition..  lets just say they took alot of vibes out of the grips and i really like the reduced diameter grips alot... more to come.. | ||

Aaron, if you have a moment, can you please explain what you did, aside from machining custom bars ... show-off  , to get the smaller diameter grips? Your set-up is still distinctive HD - are later model grips and switch gear 7/8"? Henrik | ||

Aaomy - man am I jelous! Are there any issues with the tank and/or the fairing? I've been looking for a long time now for a set of 54mm clipons with 1 inch bars. Only place I found with them is Airtech and they told me that they didn't have any plans on ordering anymore? Guess they don't need my money. Oh well very nice job. I really like those, they have a nice clean look to them. As for the relocators, there really isn't any reason to need them. I just like the idea of a more aggressive riding position. If I ever get any clip ons they should compliment each other nicely. Thanks for sharing the pic. Take Care... | ||

There is an aftermarket company that makes 54mm clip-ons for Motoguzzi bikes. Don't know if they'll fit, but it's something to look into. In general I think Sato may make some, I found Harris clip-ons in 54mm and awhile back I talked to cyclecat and they make 53mm clip-ons that they can bore/machine out to 54mm. Henrik | ||

Henrik, I could be wrong, but I believe what Aaomy did was put the '04-up Sportster grips on. They have a smaller outer diameter than the 'normal' H-D 1" bar grips. Buellish was the first one to tell me about them after he put them on his S2-T. Shortly after that I put them on my S2. I wouldn't go back to the 'normal' sized grips now. 1313 BTW, the throttle side is a direct replacement, however the left side grip needs a little trimming as the '04-up Sportster controls are hollow to allow a portion of the grip to be captured by the left hand control (thus not requiring any adhesive to attach the grip - I believe that H-D did good with that!). I can certainly lend my set of rearsets if someone needs a set to copy. And you just buy a set of 54 mm clip-ons and make a set of 1" bars with 7/8" ends to fit into the clip-ons.Have that on my race bike.All the good sets use separate bars to ease crash replacement anyway. 1" alum bar--- | ||

henrik,, yeah just used the smaller sportster,, or vcsr? grips,, the sportier v rod had them on too.. basically they measure up around the size of a stock 7/8 grip but still use the 1" bars.. they are right about trimming the left grip. easy as pie with a pocket knife. the only problem is harley charges$6-7 for each of the old 1" bar grips and like $15 each for the newer style reduced diameter grips.. i dont get it.. if you want a set watch e-bay.. couple bucks should net you a set..when i get a chance ill post the process of making the clip ons.. dont want to hi jack this thread any more... on the rear sets. buellerthanyou,, it would be easy to make a set without the passenger pegs just dont forget to leave material going back on the right hand side for the mastercylinder mount.. if you were going to make a solo set i would probably relocate the master to vertical and make a new brake leaver to condense the package. you would probably have to replace you rear brake line also.. ???? do those rear sets work with the stock rear brake line??? hummmm?? a reach-adjustable brake lever?? can you say billet reach-adjustable brake lever?? dam you guys and your ideas,  ,,, as if my life isnt crazy enough with my own dam ideas!!!!!!! | ||

Buellerthanyou - PM sent. Henrik - Thanks. I have found many a 54mm clipons via the web, but didn't buy them because they were 7/8". Firemanjim - "make a set of 1" bars with 7/8" ends to fit" Laughs. That was just to easy. And to think I have been brainstorming for years on this.  Thanks... Aaomy - The individual I got this set from told me that I will probably need a longer brake line. | ||

hey easy,,, its almost that easy,, after you turn your ends down to the 7/8 diameter you also have to cut a grove in the bar for your control wires to pass threw... if you want to go this route let me know.. | ||

henrik,, how much adjustment in and adjustable brake leaver??? have never played with one.. heck most of my bikes front brakes run on cable power.... as if i didnt have enough to think about... easy,, go with stainless brake line.. replaced mine when i blew the stock one out.. made for a fun powerslide type corner---and not so fun laundry!!! |
