ok - are the crg ls barends worth it over the stock buell logo mirrors?

the logo's are stock oem and only $20 a piece from buell.com

blogo

best price i could find on a used [ebay] crg was $45 - we won't even talk about new$$$

crg

any other suggestions for mirrors? cause the ones i have are... well quite worthless indeed!

they are right above the grips - and they are loose, so if the wind doesn't move them - i do as i shift, signal, etc.

what are you guys using?

I'd recommend using the stock mirrors with a set of mirror adapters to make the mirrors lay down. See my profile picture that that will give you an idea. Shazam on this board used to sell them, but I'm not sure if he still is. I've seen the adapters on E-bay a few times. They work excellent.

The CRGs are spendy. I have used both the regular and lane splitter versions.

mho is they are worth it to me. Another thought is to spend the extra for the "lane splitter" version. Should you tap something they will fold back. A bonus for crowded parking also.

They even crash pretty good.

thanks delta - i actually want the mirrors to be up a bit higher than the ones i have now

you know, so i can actually see behind me : )

ill check into those adapters though - they sure look cool...

im a function over form guy when it comes to something like mirrors - i truly dont care what they look like, so long as they work!

I have the CRG bar ends, and they have been through 2 laydowns, and one high speed crash (and none of these were by me!). Slight sand and repaint, and working on my second $18 mirror kit to repair, but to me, they work, and the metal survives like it is supposed to. They are excellent for look, give me a great view of behind the bike, are almost never obliterated by vibration (seems impossible, I know), i just really think they are great. I was even trying to get another set, they show up on eBay pretty regular, but often end the auction above retail prices.

I put the adapters on because of how they work. I hated the stock mirror location. You couldn't see anything except your own shoulders. With the adapters, it moves the mirrors out farther, so the view is great and you have a lot of flexibility to position them as high or low as you want to. They are very stable on my X-1 with a good view at pretty much all speeds.

Good luck.

Go to a bike shop (pedal style)
They sell plastic bar ends that came in many, shapes, sizes, and are cheaper than $45...

hmmm, we have a local bike shop here in shawnee mission [actually i think we have several] - ill have to ride over there after work and see what's what...

especially if they are $10-$20 a pop, i could replace those 10 times before i got to the range of the crg b ends

I have the CRG's and love them. They work great giving you a full view behind you and they look way better than the stock rabbit ears. Cycle gear has a set of aluminum mirrors that are almost exactly like the CRG's at a fraction of the price. They are 59.99 but come with two mirrors and both bar end adaptors. The only real difference is the clamps that go from the mirrors to the bars are cast instead of billet like the CRG's so don't wrench them down to tight. The Cycle Gear mirrors work great, my friend is running them on his S1. Here's a link to the Cycle Gear Mirrors:
