Well I finally got my bike back on the road and my wrist is partially working, kind of like a built in governor. Anyway I thought I would post a photo and touch on a few other posts. One about repacking the muffler. I bought the kit from American Sport Bike it was fairly easy to install. It sounds a little more subdued but nice. Secondly I posted an inquiry about seats. I decided to go with one of the only two pro seats left in captivity. It had yellow piping and emblem. I painted the piping black and the emblem green with some touch up paint, kind of tedious, but worth it. I really like the seat so far. Another post about mirrors here is a photo of my S3 with XB9R short mirrors. I took them off of my XB9R and replaced the XB mirrors with the longer ones that came out in 04. The XB mirrors looked fine on my S3 and vibrate much less. The holes will have to be filed out slightly to make them fit. Here are the photos I think it came out nice. Keep the shiney side up. Brion, Looks good! Glad to hear you healing well. One thing, can you edit your post and put an "enter" after each picture tag? That will put them vertical so one doesn't have to scroll side to side. Looking good! I wish it was as nice here as it looks there... Brad | ||

Bike looks fantastic. I had the exact scrape on my tank for awhile... I know how good you feel now. "I bought the kit from American Sport Bike it was fairly easy to install. " Ha! That's funny. I did a repack on my V&H with a kit I got from Al, and it was like, "The 3 Stooges meets Dumber and Dumberer", except I was by myself. When I tried to slip the packing over the perforated core, the material it was encased in burst open and the fiberglass packing inside immediately achieved the dimensions of a 33 gallon trash bag. I was able to wrestle all the packing inside the can, but it was a struggle of epic proportions. | ||

Oh I forgot one important thing, the brakes. If you read my former post my front brakes seemed to lock up for no apparent reason. The most common antidote that came back was moisture in the brake fluid and not cleaning the pots before pushing them in, since I had just changed the pads. When I took the calipers apart including draining them there was no evidence of moisture, but from what I have been told brake fluid will adsorb moisture not separating like oil and go to the bottom. However, the pots did have some residue that I shoved in past the outer seal. Maybe this had something to do with it. I guess this will just be one of life’s mysteries to me. Anyway from now on I will change the brake fluid yearly and never shove my pots back in with out taking them out and cleaning them. | ||

I am glad that someone else experienced the "re-pack spaghetti nightmare". Well, not glad, but I fell better that it could happen to someone else... | ||
