Does anyone know the difference between the 99/00 M2 race kit and a newer one? I am looking at an 02 M2 and have a race kit for a 99/00. Is it at all useable? |

The race kit for a 99/00 SHOULD work up to the 02.. The header is the same, the brackets...ignition, etc.. The only thign I can think of, is IF you havent already done it, get the updated "Y" front exhaust hangar... 99-02, are the same as far as I know... There COULD be a difference, but I dont think so.. Thanks Chasespeed. A guy on one of the other boards said that the ignition module wouldn't work. Any telling why? Aren't the ignitions the same? |

The ignition module is different for 99-00 and 01-02 M2's. I'm not sure what the difference is, but I know that M2's made after 00 have a temperature sensor in the cylinderhead that cuts power if the bike starts to overheat. This may be why the module is different. I just got a Race Kit for my 00 M2 and am in the process of installing it now. The vendor I got it from confirmed that the modules are very different and can't be interchanged. The race module really doesn't give you much based on what everyone that has one says, but what the hell, it came with the kit so I'm using it. |
