I'll be installing a stock rear Z bracket to my 2002 M2 in an attempt to replace a V&H with a D&D. My question is, how does the bracket attach to the swingarm? The owners manual does not detail this. Are there spacers or rubber grommets that I need to get or does the bracket just bolt right onto the swingarm without spacers? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! |

There are some rubber well type nuts that fit into the swingarm block, you may still have them in there as I am assuming the V&H uses the same nuts to attach its mounting bracket. |

when i replaced my v&h the stock hardware was still there. two mounting bolts across from each other, huge pain in the keister to sock down. i remember using two box ends 13mm i believe. if your careful the rubber/metal bushing will stay in there (swingarm). |

As Tripp said....once you get the V&H bracket off the Z-bracket bolts back in place...straight forward once you get the V&H piece off and start lining up the Z-bracket. It was a little bit of a Pain in the A## though, because it's such a tight fit...but not difficult at all. |

Thank you guys for all your help and tips. And Rag, that muffler diagram is great - thanks so much. I'm going to use it as my road map when I do this thing. I installed the Z-bracket and it was no problem at all. Just a little uncomfortable fussing in such a tight space. It's a good thing I had two 1/2 inch wrenches. It would've been impossible without. Thanks again for the tips. Hopefully, my dealership will get the D&D by the end of this week. My neighbors are going to love me. |
