Anyone ever have the brass bar across the butterfly break? Happened to me on my way to Ft. Worth yesterday. Weird. Anyone have a spare?

Mine broke too, on my X1..

You cant get just the throttle shaft, you have to buy the whole throttle body...

What causes that?
I saw this problem in "the x1-files" site.
Just a fluke?

Nah, the ones I have seen break, seem to break at one of the screws that holds the butterfly on the shaft..

The newer, update shaft, is beefier, and the butterfly slides down into a slot, the shaft captures it form both sides...more material, less likely to break...

That's exactly where it broke. Kind of sucked that it happened on my way to Blake's killer gig in Keller. EB autographed my bike in the back of a pick-up. Most embarrassing. He was incredibly gracious. Gotta thank Jay, James, and Chad for getting me and my bike back to Austin!

Thanks, Tom. While at the Up In Smoke gathering, I got to meet Dave from Appleton. Great guy.
I ordered a new throttle body from my guys here in Austin. Should see it tomorrow (critical order). I'll post as soon as I'm back on the road with a fresh picture.
I sure appreciate everyone's input and advice.

About how many miles does this happen at? I'm wondering if I should start looking for a spare.
The used one I passed on for $50 suddenly looks better.....

Mine broke about about 11,000, I noticed the throttle was acting stiff and wouldn't return to idle quite right the time before I rode before it broke. just thought the return spring was getting bad. Pull the air filter and look at the shaft for bending or cracking. Might save some major headache.

Mine hasn't quit yet at 64K.
(I'm still running my original rear isolators too)

Mine went at just over 15K. New one works GREAT! Smoother than the original ever was. Had I known about the potential problem, I'd have switched it out before to prevent the trouble. I love my bike again!

I'd not put a used on on my FI unless it was off a late '01 or '02 DDFI Buell. There were updated.
