Well, all of my parts have finally arrived. I just have a few questions regarding the belt and pulley ratios. Eboos, in your ealier post you mention that a 28T front with the XB 65T rear would compare to a 26/61T. But the stock setup is 27/61. What front pulley do I want to run if I am using the XB 65T rear and want a bit higher gearing than the stock 27/61? Also, is there any way to use my stock belt, or do I have to get a longer one? If so, how long are those that are doing this swap getting? |

Braking out the calculator, I'll be back. |

29 tooth front. There should be even less variation here then a 26/61 - 28/65 switch. (Message edited by eboos on December 08, 2005) |

If you want higher gearing (faster speed at lower RPM), you could go with one more tooth up front. If you want quicker launches and are willing to give up some top speed, go with one less tooth up front. |

there are no bearings available for the swap....Hal's HD has the spacers available..they supply them with their XB chain conversion swingarm. |

Zoar, the Hals spacers won't work on account of the difference in diameters of the axles. |

I used the Hal's spacers for my conversion. Should have said Hal's spacers/bushings...they bush the larger XB axle down to the common .995 or so tube frame axle size....the spacers u see above in the photos are also this type...they are combination spacer bushings allowing the use of the common axle. |

Here is a pic of a spare spacer I have... The large spacer portion comes in a uniform width..You will need to adjust/mill this width to center your wheel..align chain etc. |

Forks from an 03? Are they different then 04 and up? Or are you refering to the tubes alone, not the complete fork? Will the 03 tubes fit onto an unmodified tube frame 54mm tree? Also, with the head angle on an M2 being 24.5 degree and the head tube on a XB12S being 21 degree, would you have enough room to slide the fork tubes down on the tree to keep the 24.5 degree angle and proper hight using the current 12S fork? Is the 12SS fork longer, and would that work better? |

via Matty If you use the '03 XB forks, they will work with the 54mm triple trees from the S2,S3,S1, and X1. The later XB forks have a larger bottom diameter so you'll need to bore the lower clamp to fit them, but they will also work with that modification. I actually have no real information other than what I've read. so take it with a grain of salt |

Zoar, is the spacer you have pictured above from Hals? Just to make sure, the spacer above has the I.D. of Tube frame axle and, O.D. of the Xb Wheel? Thanks in advance for any info. |

Catching up from the 12th. I forgot the Hals chain conversion used the old axle diameter - I thought it used the new one. I think the old one is 30mm and the new is 35mm?? I'll have to check one of these days. |

Here are some pics of my bike finished. It has been finished for some time now (June but I thought I would post a few pics. Still a few more things I would like to do.
I will post some more in a different area after I get the process of compressing my pics down. (Message edited by sjh on September 10, 2006) |
