Are the XB heads better than the 98s1w thunderstorm heads?

you might want to consider a stage 2 job for your t-storm heads, probably more bang for the buck, on the same site jim mentioned check out the stage 2 process. pretty impressive, if you can get a hold of the owner aaron he'd be able to steer you the right way, very knowledgeable guy, really miss his posts here on badweb.

dont forget pistons,, and your pushrods,, xb valves are like .025 longer than lightening or thunderstorm, with the rocker arm ratio it makes you need something like .040 shorter pushrods, and you'll have to have the breather holes drilled. the deal is something like this.. you would have to change your pistons, heads, front motor mount, pushrods, your gain would be a little bit more power, more rpm, better ports, better cooling. if you have the thunderstorm squish cut into the xb heads, then you wont need pistons. for me with a s2, xb heads are a no brainer, the bike already has flat top pistons and the heads basically bolt right on.i made my own front motor mount and used adjustable pushrods and sumax tubes.not a whole lot invested. the better choice for you may be thunderstorm head work and porting.. it might be a better deal,, but do what you want.. that what playing with bikes is all about.. if you are going to go with the xb heads and flat top pistons, pm me and i'll give you any help i can..
hope this sheds some light,, aaomy,,
ps tripp,, i totally miss aarons posts too..
from one aaron to another ,,, please come back!!

I'm liking the XB heads / stock S1 pistons / stock push rods all with no problems and a very reliable 84 at the rear wheel.

And I to wish someones return

i guess you could run stock push rods if you want. standard tappets have enough stroke, but i would want to check them good before running. so i guess if you run stock pushrods its kinda like installing a set of S&S lifter limiters.. thats cool too.. oh well,, have fun and post pict... i like pictures..
