Does HD/Buell keep any kind of records on the shop work they've performed on specific bike (i.e. mine)? I've noticed they take an awful lot of information when doing service work. It would be interesting to see what kind of work the previous owner had done. Rob |

Rob, Good question. My local dealer was able to tell me when my bike (2000 S3) was built, where it was sold, who bought it, that one recall had been done, but another (the rear shock) had not. I didn't ask, but it seems likely they would at least have records for the required service work while the bike was under warranty. |

my understanding is that HD/Buell keeps recall records (makes sense), but any other maintenace records are kept at the dealer level (which also makes sense) -- I would imagine that the data at the dealers is variable, specially if you visit a far-away dealer for an oil chance or new tire while on the road |

all recall ROs, for indemnity, have to be recorded and saved. |

if you have the bike serviced at the dealership the other owner did or you know what dealership it was done at, the name of former owner and or the vin THAT DEALERSHIP should be able to tell you we store info by customer name and by the vin Izzinya aka shane @ eastside harley in bellevue wa. |

actually, ANY HD/BUELL dealership can tell you, by VIN, what's been done. One call to HD/Buell dealer services will give them a printout of your recalls. Shame it's not BMW....I could tell any North American customer their unit's service history right at my desk, in seconds. ahhhhh, "lightspeed" and Kraut organizational skills.... |
