I managed a 768 mile day on my '98 S3 yesterday and what a great highway motorcycle this is; kind of like a BMW boxer with balls. The high point of the day was setting off an SUV's alarm system when I started up at a rest stop. I guess that I'm easily amused. If you've been on the fence about this model, I say go for it, do all of the upgrades and hit the road. |

Steve: Glad you're enjoying that bike. Are you using the "Improved' stock seat? Henrik |

You bet I used that gel seat! I'd be in traction now if I stuck with that Pro Series seat I use for looks. Great bike, Henrik, I'm glad that we did the swap. I need a new XB12S, though... |

I'm glad that we did the swap. Hey, me too. Only, I seem to be eyeing the Uly these days. If so, the XB9R may take over track duty for the SV - we'll see. Henrik |

Steve, I couldn't agree with you more. I did a 1062 mile ironbutt on my S3T this summer; I was about as tired as I was after 500 miles on my Harley Dynaglide. The only thing I wish is that there was a way to get more than 22amps out of that alternator. 32 would be great, 45 would be better. |

1062? That's a long day! Henrik, who did the gel padding on that seat? That really seems like the way to go. |

1062 miles *is* a long day. Wow. About 750 miles is my longest. I did the Pro Pad (which is a viscoelastic polymer ) installation myself. Henrik |

Boys try about 2,557 miles in about three days including an 8 hr boat ride to get off this island. Of course it was on a 1998 S1 Lightning, not the most sport touring friendly thing. |

I like the comments from Cycle World "That's not a seat, that's a suppository!" |

"...try about 2,557 miles in about three days... on a 1998 S1 Lightning..." With my S-1's stock seat, the most I ever did was 310 miles; I thought I was gonna die afterwards. Hats off to you Man (and your "little ones")for surviving that. |

I love the quote on the seat from a review I read, "it would make the Marquis De Sade shed a tear..." |
