Hey JT - that orange Fram filter for the oil ain't stock! Better add it to the list! My spousal units' 96 S2T had a black one on it when new. AL |

Help me out, I'm not understanding this 'restoration' thing too well... The original shock was 'recalled' and replaced for various reasons...if you use an 'original' shock and tweak the internals to achieve a more robust ride and durable shock will it still be 'original? Original isolators? Original 'break-away' clip-ons? Changes for the S2 were made to address a few shortcomings that became apparent during rider 'beta' testing. An 'original' stock--as from the factory--S2 will depend on what month it was built also; as changes were made to the build as design changes were made or parts suppliers changed. I still have the Supertrapp exhaust cannister that came on my S2 when I purchased it--hanging in the garage--but the Buell 'race' cannister is much more robust and in essence an 'original' Buell part...as is the final edition 'short eye' shock even though it's a Showa instead of the WP exposed spring. Would I like to have an 'original' WP? For the right price yes, but it would still have to be re-worked to get anywhere near the performance of the present Showa and I'm not sure that an exposed spring is all that durable down the road...Tramp? I wouldn't mind getting the newest Buell front rotor, but I'd rather have a BrakeTech cryo-treated free-floater but for all intent and purpose, the 'original' rotor is still well within spec and functioning perfectly for my needs. A re-worked XB fork, wheel and brake set up would be a nice direction for an S2! Not original, but Buell all the way. Original and stock are fun to play around with if you have time and money. IMHO. I'm just anxious to get mine back on the road. |

What's wrong with the carb? nothing, but is been rejeted,tweeked...looking for one that hasn't been worked on... what type of oil filter was on them..stock HD? BUELL PLUGS?BUELL WIRES? AIR FILTER? DID THE EXTRA SEAT BRACKET COME ON THE 95'S..MY BIGGEST PROBLEM IS FINDING THE stock muffler mounting hardware/bracket.. I'm looking to make it as "STOCK" as possible, i'm hoping this sparks a cord. THE S2 IS BEING RAPED!!..FOR LAME CHOPPERS BUILT FOR A BUNCH OF WANNABEES...TIME TO START PRESERVING THESE BIKES!!! THIS IS MY WAY OF SAVING AT LEAST 1 S2, JT |

JT,you don't want a carb that has not been rejetted as they ran like crap due to being way too lean, and the stock plugs were too hot a heat range and were superceded to the colder 10R plugs. With a lean carb and hot plugs, it was almost guaranteed to ping.Did you ever figure out what the stock muffler mounting hardware looked like? |
