I have a D&D muffler on my S3T, and while I like the sound the thing makes after a long day in the saddle my ears are rining despite using ear plugs and a full face helmet. Is there a quieter muffler I can substitute in for the D&D without losing power? | ||

I haev the D&D on mine, personally I like it...but thats me... My buddy has a V&H on his S1, not as loud, good sound, more mellow(actually has packing)... Other than that, you may be looking into a Super Trapp...that way you can tune it to your ears... My 2 cents Chase | ||

There are few mufflers as loud as the D&D. Mine has spent little time on the bike. Almost every other slip on will be quieter but will need repacking from time to time (unlike the D&D). The strongest is probably the latest Supertrapp pipe - not sure if it is still available - try American Sport Bike. I like the White Bros but it does have a weak front pipe/mount. Even the race kit is quieter than the D&D - just as long as the packing is in tact. | ||

I have run 350 miles in one day on my M2 with no helmet and love my WileyCo (new style). Not to loud at all. | ||

I just got a Supertrapp from American Sport Bike 2 weeks ago. Well built, great sound, not too loud, and is adjustable. The price might have gone up though. | ||

Love my D&D!!! It lets people know I'm there. The wind noise is louder for me than the muffler. Around town it keeps the drivers aware. I don't blast on it in town.  | ||

It is my understanding that the Buell race series came in two varieties, the complete system (pipes and muffler) and the muffler only which was designed to slip onto the stock head pipes. The complete system is no longer available, but the slip on muffler may be. I had the slip on muffler on my first X1 and it was nice. Not too loud, but a bit more growl than stock. | ||

Don't wear earplugs for a few months. Problem solved! The Supertrapp style slip on is still available. You can mellow the sound right out of it by using less disks. You typically lose a few peak hp and gain a lot down low. The race system was available as a complete header system or in individual components. None of that is available from Buell any longer. Wes Tech still makes a rockin' race system but it is loud as hell and almost $1000. | ||

I have a Borla C/F on my 99 Cyclone that's deep and throaty. Not much louder than a stock Harley around town. Sounds pretty good when you put the whip to it. Built like a tank too, 0 problems in nearly 30,000 miles. | ||

Yup, I have an old, 99 spec D&D sitting in my basement. Looks, fit and finish - awesome. Sound was ... "attention getting". Replaced w/ aV&H carbon fiber. Great tone, only complaint is the yellowing of the header elbow (normal, per V&H). Had the rest of the headers Jet Hot coated, so looks kind of funky. |
