Well, rode from VA to MA, and back this weekend...

Lemme ask ya'll this, Is the Corbin or the Pro Series seat an improvement over a long haul, I found myself suffering from a severly sore..butt, I never had this issue wiht my old hard-tail...

I can actually compare the comfort of the seat over a long haul, with that of a Duc 748, or shoudl I say lack there-of...

Just looking for some opinions before I spend 200+ dollars on a new seat....

Thanx

Chase

there are a few places that will custom build you a seat with some nice layered foam. I just can't recall the website. Most of the BMW guys use this place.???

Chase,

Here are some links for seat companies I collected a while back:

Sargent Accessories and seats- http://www.sargentcycle.com/

Mike " The Seat Guy" in SF- http://www.miketheseatguy.com/

Russell "Day Long" Seats- http://www.day-long.com/

Bill Mayer Custom Seats- http://billmayersaddles.com/

Rick Mayer Custom Seats- http://www.rickmayercycle.com/

Corbin Seats- http://www.corbin.com/

Sargent does good work for the price. If you go to their site they have prices for all the custom seat work they do (you have to send in your old seat). Some of the other guys listed above specialize in "Iron Butt" quality seating, but they charge accordingly.

Yes get the custom seat. I found one at a dealership new for 80 bucks. Made the whole difference in the world during 600 mile days in the Blue Ridge.

Chase,
I have the corbin gunfighter+lady, I rode a 950+ day on the stock seat (affectionately know as "nut crusher" ) and that was enough. The corbin is a bit less comfortable for around town, but its great for any kind of distance.

Mbsween, so you are switching between the 2 then? Mine is cool around town, even about an hour and a half on the freeway... But yeah...I know the name well....

If I had been asked to do anymore miles either thursday or Monday, I would have laughed..

Thanx for all your help guys..I appreciate it...

Now, which one will pop up first...

Keep the stock seat for track days. It's much harder to move around the custom seat.

On a trip from Sydney to Adelaide a distance of 1,400 k's (870 Miles) in 2 days, a few days in Adelaide then return to Sydney via the Great Ocean Road. All up in just over 1 week, total distance traveled was around 4,000ks (or 2,480 Miles) in total. I knew the seat on the X1 was gonna become a comfort problem. Over the 37 or so years riding, I have never had to repad and cover a seat, or get an expensive corbin or similar for reasons of long distance comfort. I have always used a sheepskin. A whole fleece can be folded so you get double thickness, but that will raise ya but and lower your head. There are other products like gel pads or water pads, andf some are simply an air bag.

Chase,
I don't switch them. I just got used to the corbin, its a bit wider than the stock seat near the tank. Once you figure how to correctly position your arse, all is well.

I agree with Art, the stock seat is way easier to hang off/move around on
