I have a 98 cyclone and when it is at normal op. temp the bike dies when I pull in the clutch or even when it is idle. I blew out the breather tube and checked it for any pinches. The bike runes great at any RPM's but idle. It idles at 1k RPM's. Any ideas? Thanks advance. | ||

Bad kickstand switch? Our bikes vibrate pretty heavy at idle maybe it's just shaking the switch enough to cause a loose wire. Any rpm above idle the bikes smooth out a lot. It's just the first thing that popped into my head. Plus it's easy to check. | ||

I would guess at you idle mixture hole is clogged or something of the sort. | ||

Thanks again guys. I looked at the intake, it was tight and looked ok, the kickstand switch is by-passed, and I don't understand but my idle mixture screw is still capped off. I did take the bike for a 20 mile ride today and not one problem | ||

Listen to leftcoastal,might want to check the intake seals again,they are cheap and fairly simple to replace. | ||

Tightness of intake no indication.The seals get cracks and shrink up from all the heat cycles.This is a consumable service item.Change them. | ||

Thanks guys I think that the next time the bike gives me trouble I will do the intake gasket, cause on saturday I emptied the bowl on the carb and the bike has been running fine now, I know it sounds crazy but I have no clue but thanks for all the help. | ||

I've read here about by-passing the sidestand switch. How do I go about doing that to my '00 Cyclone? | ||

Lowelltroll all you need to do is cut the two wires and tape them off. If that does not work then you need to splice the two wires, I am not 100% on witch way the switch is open, that is why you might have to splice the wires. | ||

Troll; rather than cutting off the plug: 1) unplug the short piece of wiring that has the switch at the end. 2) take a short piece of solid wire - 14 - 16 AWG should do it - and plug the ends into the female plug that remains after you unplug the switch. A paper clip will do. Tape it up and you're good to go. That way, should you want to replace the switch, it'll be an easy fix. Henrik | ||

My switch went at about 30K miles. I shorted the two wires on the switch body and reinstalled it. I hate kickstand switches. Next bike I get, I will short it out as soon as I get it home. | ||

I simply removed all the safety switches, diodes, relay, and the wiring out of my ignition system completely. |
