I just knew my front Force mount was going to break. After getting my bike ready for another season, I pulled the exhaust to find the front force mount broken. I dunno what my plan of attack will be. I took the broken mount (the one with the rubber in the middle) drilled a hole in it and put a bolt though it. The rubber is what was torn but, it's still attached to the metal. Dunno if this is a solution or not. Or if I should cut off the old mounting area and buy the new strap that they use. Any suggestions? I dunno, I always wondered about that front mount and if it was necessary for the complete systems or not. I thought it was there to help with the weight of a can and to make sure that if your header to elbow joint ever came loose you wouldn't have a spontaneous ejection-ouch. But since forces as complete system are so much lighter and there are no joints to come apart the front mount seems not to be needed. Probably wouldn't hurt to put some flexible mount there just in case something did happen, like all your header bolts broke at the same time while riding but I am not an engineer so who's to say. I have broken header bolts on my M2 with a wileyco can on it a couple of times but what I am learning is that is due more to proper alignment as a system not due to weight issues. I now have a force system without the front mount attached and it seems good to go. No problems so far but I haven't ridden it much. |

I think the bolt throught the mount should be fine as long as you just snug it up. Don't crank it down so much that it smashes the rubber in the middle otherwise you won't have any give at that point. You should use a locknut instead of a regular nut to IMO. |
