I have a funny clicking noise coming from my engine on the left side of the bike if you are sitting on it.Any ideas.Bike has 8000 miles on it.Has oil in it.Seems to get better as it warms up. |

Exhaust leak, intake seal leak or primary chain to loose. |

I would venture your primary chain is just out of spec, as it warms up it tightens up making the clicking go away. |

I'll echo the primary.. Could be a cracked tensioner also. Cheap part to fix if that's the problem. |

Adjusting the primary chain is that a easy job to do? Can someone email how to or is that in the Knowledge Vault |

Adjusting the chain is pretty easy, I recommend getting the service manual for your bike, you'll use it many times and it will pay for itself quickly. Here's a link talking about the updated primary tensioner: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/10797.html I just changed mine out, while your in there you can also upgrade your shift detent plate to the new style, its only a couple bucks and is super easy to install. Changing the main seal while its opened up is another good idea, the original will fail, it's just a matter of time. Make sure you get the new style primary gasket "Metal" instead of the paper ones. They work! Do some searches on the forum for "Detent Plate", "Primary tensioner" "Main Seal". You'll find tons of info. Hope this helps. Hodakaguy |

it could also be the nut on the alternator/rotor(inside the primary) has come loose. My S2 did this a while back. rattled like crazy. Luckily the magnets held it on and nothing except the nut was damaged. |

have seen it with lifters before, they bleed down with valve pressure and as the motor warm and oil gets pumped threw they pump up and take up the slack,, but definitely check the primary chain first.. |
