Take one M2 that you're hard pressed to get $3500 offers for. Add one frame for $2300. Add in a few weekends of work and fabrication in the garage. Add in $500-$1500 of extra conversion parts. Sell it on ebay for $14000. $14000-3500-2300-1500= $6,700. $6700 + $3500 = $10,200. Not a bad price for an M2 in the end. Expect to see more of this math applied as long as the chopper trend/craz/fad continues. | ||

Mikej's math sums it up, why our wonderful old bikes are basically 'worthless' as far as resale values go defies logic. I have been tempted to do the same with my RS, or part it out, so that I could recoup some of my investment. (I've managed to hold off so far!) Why a great riding and handling bike would be worth more chopped up or parted out than the complete bike has me baffled. I saw a website of a builder the other day that specializes in building choppers from tubers, and even has a list which gives a gradient scale of worthlessness of the various "older" Buells. (twobitchoppers.com) He said it more like you could get good deals on them, but I took it as them having low value. My 2cents- AL ps that is a pretty cool bike! | ||

Leftcoastal: when all of the tubers have been chopped/parted out/or other wise destroyed. and the numbers drop from 3000 to say 50 I wonder how much they will fetch? I'm going to try and find out ... till then I'm going to ride the hell out of mine  | ||
