Aesquire

Just wondering what it took to mount the S3 fairing to your M2. Not just parts but the total cost. I've been looking to put a Givi screen on my M2, but that S3 fairing looks good on your M2. Thanks for any info.

Sgtbuell,
Dash, fairing, bar clamp & spider (the mount w/headlamp), bought from a badwebber parting out a X1.
Remove flyscreen, headlamp, dash, handlebar clamp & mounts. The spider bolts right on the frame, the dash & fairing on the spider. I used my old gauges, (had to buy the gauge buckets from dealer) turnsignals & ignition key. The wiring is a tad short, but after cutting a few ties & re-routing works fine.
IMPORTANT! When removing gauges, screw the wiring screws right back in after removing EACH wire. The screws attaching the wires to the back of the gauge hold the gauge in it's housing, if you pull them all, it rattles around & would be a royal pain to reassemble. total cost so far before paint about $500.

Tripp, It's a Custom Coca Cola Catch Can, cost $.05. (good for 2 HP) Wyckedflesh is right. You guys share the prize. I was wondering who would be first to notice.

Sgtbuell:

This winter has been consumed by exactly what you are thinking about doing. My 98 M2 is being transformed into an M3T. Thanks to the BadWeb it has been fairly painless to do.

It started with a tailsection swap last summer. Another BadWeber wanted to trade his wide tailsection for my narrow tailsection. Big improvement in comfort for the cost of fuel to the swap point.

As soon as the bike went in to storage, I inquired about the fairing here on BadWeb. Within 2 hours I had a number of responses, one of which worked out well. I was able to purchase an entire setup minus the dash, in the right color for a very reasonable price.

Another BadWeber donated a spare dash to the cause and I am almost done. If you can get the job done for under $500 you would be in great shape. Any questions, please ask.

How do I go about doing the catch can? What advantage does it give me?

5 gallon oil tank? (as listed in your profile) . . . . I'd love some data on that . . . . .

catch can gives the spooge that comes out of your breathers someplace to go other than back into your motor or all over your jeans . . . . . you can use just about anything from an oil shapoo bottle to a $100+ aluminum billet jewel . . . . the KV under breathers has more information that you can possibly digest in one sitting . . ..

After posting, I went looking for more info and found the area in the KV. I am now fairly educated. Sounds like a good idea to help keep the bike a little cleaner.

Guess its not a big deal after blowing a rockerbox gasket on the way to the HD 100th last summer. The cloud of oil mist kept people from tailgating me though!

M2fortom, I'd say 2 sportster banjo bolts, hose, can, & ties. (I used 1 banjo & 1 stock breather bolt, but I have the breadbox) Good idea w/a force intake. Not having your engine breath the spew cuts down on carbon buildup, & is nearly free HP. ( 1/2 to 2 I think I read)

Tom,

Hows the project coming along? Do you have any pics?

I'm almost ready for engine installation. "Marilyn" should be on the road by April 1st: D

My S3T is just waiting for a little spark (ie battery installation). I might try to get a quick ride around town in on Saturday morning.

Later,

Mennis

Dennis:

No pics yet. I am almost done with everything though. I am waiting for one more piece to connect together my exhaust. Won't be ready for this weekend, but if the weather holds out, I want to be on the road by next for a short ride.

The fairing install is done except mounting the gauges and re-routing my ignition switch. The dash is a great finish to the project. Thanks again. I owe you so if there is any M2 stuff you need that I have removed for this conversion, its yours. Not sure what else you might need for the S1 project, but let me know.

Have a good ride.

Thanks for the info. When I get back my income tax I might have to really consider going the same route you two went.

Just a question !
Why the F%&#" do you use the topic
Buell pics for all of that chatter, there are room for all of that elsewhere on the BBB.
When I go to the Buell pics topic, I expect to see photos,
not reading a lot of things, that dosent belong there.
What does the rest of you mean ?
What does Admin. says

Yes, I know. I hadn't seen a pic of the white version before though, I really like it. Almost worth switching to the "other side" to have one ; )

You and me bud. Discussion about the photo is fine, but the tangential threads are not welcome. Like this one.

There is exactly one extra empty set of saddle bags on that bike. The rest was fully loaded. We won't mention my 25Lb bag of tools I took along. ; )
I still wonder how you managed to stuff a green sofa into your bike luggage.
