Spyder if you wanted to paint them why didn't you ask to trade with someone thats had a XB9S since they are already the same color as the rest of the 12 frame??? The tail on the 9 is dark grey and the 12's are silver, easy swap. And I wouldn't doubt someone would trade.

I posted pics of this a few days ago, but she finally arrived yesterday and is now stylin' in front of MY garage- woohoo! I had a chilly (for Texas) 40 degree ride home from the freight hub where I had to pick it up, about 60 miles from my house. My only previous Buell rides have been at those demo events, but that was enough to get me interested. This X-1 is one sweet ride, very well mannered and tight with plenty of grunt. Really sweet on the freeway at 80-90, very smooth. It was a little scary buying a bike based solely on digital pics, but thankfully it is a spotless bike and there were no surprises. Well, one surprise. It is WAY loud. There's no baffle in the pipe, it's a reverse cone megaphone with ceramic coating. As far as I can tell there's no way to add a baffle and the pipe is all welded together, so I can't replace the muffler. I'll have to address that at some point, I like loud but this is too much! Otherwise I couldn't be happier

Tres...Does your Force intake swallow the engine juice or do you have a catch can hidden where I can't see it?

Still planning on doing a knock off of your bike. That is truly a classic.

Tom, I read your profile to see what part of Texas you're in, you've got more bikes than me! Excellent!

Bill, I have to plead ignorance, is there a leak issue with these intakes? I went out to the garage and checked, no catch can on it.

I'm stoked, after running through posts here and searching the 'net I discovered the pipe on mine is a Force Streetfighter, and there -IS- a baffle available! Yes! I ordered one a while ago, it should take the noise down enough to pass inspection and motor by Mr. Poleeceman at low throttle ; )

Kind of hard to tell in the pic, but this bike is loaded down with carbon fiber. The windscreen, chin spoiler, tank trim panels, fender eliminator tray and front sprocket cover are all CF. I got all the receipts from the original owner, over 6K just in parts and mod's. I didn't pay much more than that for it!

If it's to loud your to old. Just kidding.

I see what Nevco1 is saying, it looks like the tube running from your breather bolt is going right into the intake. That could just be the way the picture is though.

Tres...did not mean to imply that there is a problem. As I understand it the standard Force intake routes the engine breathers back into the EFI intake similar to the way Buell designed it.

Many owners have elected to route the breathers into a catch can or some other device rather than sending the oil and vapors back into the injection system.

Was just wondering if you had a hidden catch can or some other bypass that I didn't see in your pics. Heck, I even dug out the magnifying glass to try and figure it out. LOL

Have a great day!

Tres... Nevco was asking about the intake breather routing. There are two banjo bolts that come out the top of the heads, with black PVC tubing coming off the banjo bolts. Where does the other end of that tubing go, back into the forcewinder intake? If they just connect to each other, you have some work to do, or you could blow a seal. If they route to the forcewinder, just leave them alone.

It vents a little oily water vapors, so many of us have spent way too much time and energy trying to figure out where to route them. Buell routes them into the airbox, so the junk gets sucked back into the engine and burned up.

I tried a bunch of different stuff, and finally have a drain setup that works, but in hindsight if you have the nipple on the forcewinder, just route them into there and be done with it. Every pair of pants I own has a oily spot over my right knee created while I was debugging my setup.

Tres

Some guys have had trouble with the baffle blowing off the end of the pipe.Maybe they changed them slightly now,but they were including 2) 1/4" screws+nuts to hold the baffle on(it slips over the outside of the pipe's reverse cone)but it doesn't push on far enough to drill the 1/4"holes,they might be into the very outside edge of the cone.If thats the case, you might want to try 4) 3/16 bolts.

AAAH! Now I see what you guys are asking! I wouldn't have realized what was done on the bike had ya'll not said something as it looks like a factory installation (the visible part anyway). What they did was run hoses off the engine breathers and "T" them together into another hose (they're all heavy reinforced hoses) that is routed upward to the frame rails, back under the seat and terminates into some kind of bottle that is tucked between the seat and carbon fiber fender eliminator pan. I never would have noticed it, the bottle is black and nearly disappears under there. I have no clue how to get that bottle out of there to empty it, looks like I'll have to remove the pan to access it. It also looks like it's leaking, there's some oil residue on the pan where the hose goes into the bottle. Thanks for the info! Let me know if ya'll want to see pics of it, I'll snap a few and post them.

R-T, thanks for the offer! I'm the same one that posted a message over on the Storm Fronts forum that you replied to. I'd like to go, but based on all the rain we're getting I may have to build an ark instead. Of course this is the "Bad Weather Bikers" site, so maybe I should go anyway : )

JRH, I appreciate it! From the pic I saw when I ordered it, it looks like the baffle will be the same as what you described, so I'll take the advise and bump the hardware size up.

Tres...Thanks for the description. Must admit that is a new hidding place for the catch can, at least for me. You will want to empty it afer every ride until you get a feeling for how may miles you can go before draining it.

Tres, this is the address for the X1 Files. It is continually updated and has info from all the Buell boards on it. I refer to it often as it is model specific and easier to navigate than the Knowledge Vault.
