Hoon,
Actually just driving lights set up in the blinker holes. Then the blinkers movers to the main light adjuster holes. That shot was from a while back in early summer. I've since gone to a bar just at the fender level that holds those lights. I had a heck of a time with the light brackets vibrating to the point of breaking. The newer "bar" keeps them stable enough not to stress the brackets. I was welding the bracket every other week. Finally decided to fab up the angled bar and attach to it. Now no vibes, no welding! As it looks now:

Sweet,I notice you've got some matt black paint and a fender minder too,all the best Ulys have that stuff

It's a young hog skull btw,Hog?Harley?Sportster engine?Buell?there's a joke there somewhere.

I know,I know,it's all getting a bit silly-I've got to play with the suspension settings again now with all that weight up front!

Somebody said it in another post - you truly are the Mad Max of Ulydom. That bike rocks. If I still lived in England, I'd surly have hooked up with you. The flatter the paint the better!

Nice Beetle,I like the single fog light,I might have to poach that idea and tint one light yellow on Ulyrat.

Where did you live in Ingleland and how long for,etc if you don't mind me asking.

Hoon,
We were north of Swindon in a little place called Fairford. Actually lived just outside Burton on the Water in the Cotswolds and worked on the RAF base in Fairford. Lived there a little over 3 years. Bought the car in Surrey. Absolute rust bucket barely passed MOT. Just barely. Took me another 5 years to build it back to show car, then onto drag car. Ended up with a respectable low 13 second quarter mile, front wheels just coming of the tarmac, and award winning show car. People always asked if I lost a fog light. Would walk right by and not recognize it was RHD.

Wankers.

Sorry for the late post but you say the red VW is the same car as the black VW but 20 years later? The reason I ask is the red VW does not have a sunroof and the black VW appears to have factory sunroof of course you could have put another body the the floorpan, been there done that 30 + years ago....

Keef,
Yep, body swap. But...body was still a '66 and hence did not come with a cloth roof. Last one's to have cloth were '62 or '63 I think. Too much rust on the original body doomed it to the scrap pile. I wanted the upgraded '66 ball joint suspension of my pan and '50s style bullet turn signals up front and an early '60s sliding top. That's the beauty of the Bug, so adaptable. Best solution at the time which was easy was to go to an aftermarket top on the replacement body. Company called Britax had a two fold, sliding top which looked almost perfect compared to the original 3 fold top. The signals were easy to graft on the fenders. Grafting the RHD dash was a little tougher! The suspension, although lowered allot, drove just like stock, nice and smooth.
And although the car looks black in the pics, it's really British Racing Green. Loved that color, but in low light she looked dark and menacing. Especially in the eyes of some testosterone inflated Vette or Mustang! They never liked this car in front of them! Always looking at the back end of her though. Was a joy to drive that car. Sneaky fast!

Not much of an adventure,no action or people (in the photo) but I was out on the bike today (as were loads of others) due to bright sunshine and dryish roads and wanted a snap of the bike to post.

So if you've ever bought a Hagon product-this is where it was made,a mile away from where I live in Hainault,Essex,UK:

This was last Thursday just before I set off for a camping w/end in Derbyshire,UK:

(It only gave me 2734 minor heart palpitations as the back end felt like the tyre had deflated as I battled against severe headwinds at 85mph (officer) on the A1 heading North!-It wasn't soft,it's just not very stable with the miss-matched tyres and barn door aerodynamics)

More pics to come when I get time to do them justice with some words of explanation-brace yourselves.

Blimey,it feels like I'm hogging this thread a bit.

But I won't let that stop me:

I got a photo of Ulyrat and another friend today on Londons only Rats Lane (In Epping Forest as it goes-just outside London)-how apt.

Seeing as I've now posted four times in a row,it looks like I'm the only one having Buellish adventures!

Todays adventure was courtesy of Al:

Ok so it wasn't much of an adventure, more of a local ride really.
It was my first ride in 3 weeks so it felt d@mn fine, let me tell you.

Hoon,
Only three weeks? My last ride was November 17. 2007 ! We had almost a foot of snow (25-30 cm) last weekend. I can't remember the last time I saw the lawn let alone dry, warm , salt/sand free pavement. Keep posting! Love to see pics from other countries. Ride save.

Carter Lake, lowered a good 40 feet as damn repairs are being made, provided a good slippery slope muddy adventure today.
The Avon Distanzias earned their keep today.
Orange is the more adventurous color, after all.
