I can reason why he (John Mikosh) named this one Erika. But then how did he come up with the name for his RSS (Janis)?

Curiously,

The first one in town, race muffler installed, delivered to your dooor - very cool!

Shouldn't the yellow spot on your front tire be next to the valve stem on your wheel?

Not if they static balance the wheel to find its true heavy spot. A trick I just learned from a friend (my buddy Keith). Apparently the wheel's heavy spot does not always coincide with the valve stem. Or is it the light spot? Heck I dunno, I haven't mounted my own tires in a long time. You get the idea.

Well now you made me go out and look in the garage. The yellow dot on the tire is almost 3 spokes off from the valve stem on my front wheel.

Blake - thanks.

Perhaps all of the fuel framed owners are doomed!

It's marked so that when you line the mark with the stem the heaviest part of the tire is opposite the stem.

From Dunlop: "All Dunlop street tires should be installed with the yellow balance dot at the valve."

Right, so their instructions assume the valve stem is the heavy side of the wheel. You can often reduce the amount of wheel weights required if you determine the true heavy spot of the wheel and then locate the yellow dot at that point. It is usually within 45o of the valve stem.

So I guess we should give Buell the benefit of the doubt and assume that they determined the wheel's true heavy spot and mounted the tire accordingly? Yeahhhhhh, that's the ticket.

The Firebolt and, we assume, the Lightning are a little different. The heavy part of the wheel is NOT the valve stem. The heavy spot is marked on the inside of the wheel and is only visible when the tire is removed.

How about this for Blasphemy!
You don’t even have to rebalance your wheels when you replace tires!
Just put the yellow dot in the same place as it was on the old tire and you're good to go.

Now, just what any of this has to do with Cool Buell Pics is up to debate.

When I last changed my tires, the dot on front wasn't visible. I put the dot on the new tire 180 degrees from the valve stem, and the balance was just about perfect.

Court.

I will be heading to New York this coming December for a family vacation. I would like some advise on hotels. Would like to be close to the nbc facility, broadway, central park, macys, etc. The last time we stayed in new york is was on the ave of the americas, but it has been too long ago to remember the name of the hotel.....Any ideas? It was in the 80's , so I am sure things have changed...thanks, rEx

Well, that narrows it down to 817 hotels on AofA (6th Avenue). I've got nothing but time on my hands these days and shall wander the 'hood to see what I can find.

It was in the 80's
It's cooler than that now...in the 50's today. Hopefully it will be nice when you arrive :)

Those SR's are real gems. I've seen people do some wild things to their SR club racing bikes online.
