Even worse, it was obvious to me it was a big win for foreign car makers, who had more cars on the approved list than American makers, proportionally. So I ignored it, until the floor rotted out on my Grand Caravan and the driver's seat tipped over 23 degrees, on it's way to the ground. Yep, New York Rot Box. Oh, hey, this death trap qualifies for a "trade in" 5-infinity times it's actual worth! But only if I buy a high economy mileage car. And Barry the Weasel is ignoring the courts and canceled oil drilling. Even says he want gas to cost more to manipulate us. Hmm. So I buy the finest car I can High Irony is the Cash For Clunkers program also wants to make sure that none of these vehicles can be used for parts, either, and besides the glass, the only part of my Caravan that's any good at all is the Engine, that I used synthetic oil in from the beginning, and ran like new. Until they pour the Clunker Oil in and wrecked it. So do I feel guilty? a tiny bit. I did thank all you guys for buying me a new car, I did take a death trap off the road, and I saved the planet and my bank account by going from 18 mpg to 40. Instead, I point to the real advance in medication delivery. I recall when DMSO, the industrial solvent, was found to speed drugs into the bloodstream from a simple lotion rubbed on the skin. Promised to reduce the need for injection of drugs that can't survive stomach acids & can't work in pill form. Unfortunately, DMSO was found to do bad things to human eyes, and got banned for human use. Well, I go with kids and dogs being similar in the Nature vs. Nurture departments. Even with the best care and education, some few dogs are just jerks. My hypothesis is there are some genetic combos that give you a creature you can't share a planet with. But that's rare. Not unheard of. Otoh, poor training, neglect, abuse, can turn a fine puppy into a twisted wreck that's intolerable. I assume that there are a few that even abuse won't turn bad, but haven't experienced that personally, since I don't hang with dog abusers. They are monsters themselves in varying degrees. Humans just have fancier and more terms for messed up. That's why when some teacher goes off on how parents can be toxic, I understand that they could be right in too many cases. Unfortunately the ones who say that out loud and get press, are usually sexual deviants with an agenda of psychological destruction and/or rape grooming. You need more than one comment to tell. Frustrated smart teacher? Monster who should be buried with no ceremony? And the monsters hide behind fake empathy. Rationalization. That's true in politics, useful idiot? The author gets one thing wrong. There is an abundance of excess power at night, and a dearth of it during the day. Industry and air conditioning suck up all that daytime power. There is a reason lots of retail electricity providers have free nights and weekends plans. Speaking of, I know a guy who installed batteries and inverters at his home. No solar. The 1977 prediction, ( didn't happen ) was issued while I was taking Meteorology 101. The hypothesis seemed sound. IF, the Arctic Ocean is warmed to ice free. ( not in recorded history, but it might happen ) And IF there's a persistent high wind condition preventing ice sheets from forming. ( does happen on a local scale. ) Then Moist air moving over cold land deposits much snow, snow reflects sunlight back to space, keeping it cold, enough snow and it doesn't all melt. Lather, rinse, repeat, Ice Age. Just because it hasn't happened in recorded history doesn't mean it can't, or didn't back when everyone except Atlantis was a hunter gathered tribe. And Atlantis, alas, was written about by Plato, a very imaginative guy, and no one before, so I doubt it ever existed. So 1977 handed us a scary hypothesis that maybe might come true. We don't know yet. Imho, everything from 1998 on is bs. And the U.N. IPCC agrees it's not science, it's "economics" aka Marxist cult conquest. | ||
